What some on here have said from the beginning. Good to have a Bammer finally admit it.

This week, in a radio interview with the Arkansas-based "Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly," former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy added his thoughts on why Malzahn's defense is difficult for Saban and other defensive-minded coaches to handle.

"Nick Saban likes to dictate the tempo, likes to dictate and attack the offense, and from a defensive standpoint he likes to use different personnel groupings, different blitz looks, different fronts and formations and secondary alignments to be able to confuse the offense," said McElroy, now an analyst for the new SEC Network. "Anytime the offense is playing so fast that it keeps the defense on their heels, it does make it difficult to dictate."

Some?

Saban likes to dictate what is going on. He can't do that with the HUNH.

It's not in the article but it's obviously not safety.

Plus Saban has to recruit differently for speed instead of size.

Why is everything McElroy says deemed thread worthy?

Those that know football knew this all along. It's why Bama struggles with the up tempo teams in the SEC. The tempo, and Saban recruiting a bunch of 270lb plus DL.

Saban needs to let his players play against teams like Auburn, Ole Miss, and TAMU. And by players play, I mean play by instinct and not strict code.

If he does that, Alabama wins big every time.

Nobody ever claimed Saban was a great X and O game planner.

I do not think they are taught to think on their own. Do you think he will allow his LBs to call plays on their own ? That is why I think this is a critical year for Smart. If the Defense gives up the yardage like they did at the end of the year, KS will be the fall guy.

Saban wants to be in control. It's why he failed in the pros because his dictator philosophy doesn't work with professional players; aside from the paid professional players at UAT.

HUNH removes the control from his hands and it drives him insane.

He had the game of college football down to a science before HUNH hit.

To my knowledge Saban has never allowed his players to play this way…How do we know Bama wins big "every" time?
