UK Fans, What are you expecting going into year 2 under Stoops?

You guys have another brutal schedule(join the club), but I thought you guys showed some resilience last year given what limited talent you had to work with.
Which teams on the schedule do you guys think are Wins and which are swing games?
What constitutes this season as a success and proof that the program is moving in the right direction?
TIA

Schedule is brutal as you mention. Mainly looking for continued progress on both sides of the ball. Still unsure about QB, but Stoops recruiting has been off the charts, so I think we are still one more year away from being competitive again.
Here is Kentucky's complete 2014 schedule:
Aug. 30 - UT Martin
Sept. 6 - Ohio University
Sept. 13 - at Florida
Sept. 20 - open
Sept. 27 - Vanderbilt
Oct. 4 - South Carolina
Oct. 11 - ULM
Oct. 18 - at LSU
Oct. 25 - Mississippi State
Nov. 1 - at Missouri
Nov. 8 - Georgia
Nov. 15 - at Tennessee
Nov. 22 - open
Nov. 29 - at Louisville
I think 5 wins, maybe 6. After 2-10, I would consider that a major accomplishment.
Being more competitive in the SEC games will be plenty of improvement for me to know we are going the right direction.

Would like to see 5 wins. HAVE to win an SEC game. Feels like Vandy could be it. Also I like us for an upset somewhere along the line. 2015 is when I'm expecting real competitiveness though.

Dale Denton in a thread about Kentucky sports? Shocker there...
As far as the OP goes, progress on both sides of the ball would be a start. Five wins would be great this season. We have, arguably, more talent coming in than we've ever had before. Unfortunately, most of them are freshmen and sophomores though.
Winning an SEC game would be great. I feel better about the Louisville game than I did last season since they lost Bridgewater and the game has been moved to the end of the season.
Guess we'll see...

^The Louisville game was frustrating. If you'd had just a little more luck in the passing game you had a chance in that game. Defense was making plays.

True. Fumbling the ball when you're about to walk into the end-zone never helps either...
We left at least 14 points on the field.

^No doubt. It was tough to watch in that regard.

Just reminded me of that awful Locke fumble in Knoxville. Ugh. So it goes.

4-6 wins. 6 would include a few upsets and honestly be one of the truly more remarkable seasons in Kentucky Football history if you ask me.
I still think we are a year away from being a solid bowl team. However I think 4 wins this year is a must and we HAVE to win an SEC game. No questions asked.

That or beat the Cards, but I would say at least 1 of the 2 must happen. Still feel UK is another year away from getting back to old form of pulling the upset - especially in SEC.

Who will be Kentucky's quarterback this year?

Don't expect to know until the first play. That seems to be Coach Stoops' style.
I think the season will be an improvement if we go 4-8 or 5-7 with an SEC win. Beating Louisville would, of course, make it a success even if it's our only win.

Fair enough. Appreciate the insight guys.
Which positions do you feel good about going into the year? Which ones don't you?
That's a tough schedule, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Kentucky get 4 next year. If the ball bounces your way a few times maybe 1 or 2 more.
We're in the same boat as you in that I believe 2015 is when we'll see the break out year. Regardless, I like to keep up with Stoops and Bert as well since we all made coaching changes at the same time and see what they do in 2014.

Towles looked the best in the spring. They'll likely want to redshirt Barker if they can for obvious reasons. Max Smith has surgery in the offseason on the shoulder he reinjured so Phillips will likely be the #2. And Towles was a good prospect coming out.
As far as overall expectations, I say 4 wins. Still may be too early for it to translate to the W/L column.

Patrick Towles will be the starter barring injury.

QB I feel better about then I have in awhile but you just never know. RB will likely be our strongest position with JoJo Kemp (who looked great as a frosh), 4* Nebraska transfer Braylen Heard, and Josh Clemons returning from injury being the big ones. DLine should be solid as well with Dupree and Za'Darius returning for their senior years. WR has some good talent but was banged up on the spring so hopefully that's not an issue going forward. I probably feel the least comfortable with the secondary because it's going to be young and while in better shape than last season still thin.
