Now that Vandy has their title, which of the remaining universities becomes the 13th SEC program to have an NCAA recognized National Championship?
Posted on 6/26/14 at 12:07 am to Dawgsontop34
Even though this is the second thread on this topic I'll end it here. Ole Miss already has an NCAA sanctioned title in football. So Vandy was the 13th.

So Mississippi St. That was easy.

State will be the 14th. Vandy was the 13th.

No, they don't. They deserve to have the 1960 National Championship, but because voting took place before the bowl game the NCAA still recognizes Minnesota as the national champion even though they had two losses. The only team that could have any sort of argument against Ole Miss winning the championship is Washington who beat Minnesota in the Rose Bowl and only had one loss (compared to Ole Miss who had zero losses and a tie).

They recognize both Minnesota and Ole Miss for 1960.

Negative.

The NCAA doesn't sanction football national titles. No one had won an NCAA football title. Reading comprehension.

Well that's what I get for trusting unreliable internet sources. Everything I read said that the championship wasn't recognized by the NCAA because it wasn't awarded the number one ranking in the coaches or the AP poll. Probably should have checked the official NCAA website though.

236 combined team titles and not a single one for State.
