I've never been before. Any good local places to eat? What about bars?

Troy is pretty shitty. If you get laid, where a rubber. Lots of STDs floating around that town.

I spend a week in Troy for work once a year. There's not much in the way of good restaurants. Best one I've found is on the square downtown, but the name always escapes me. For small town Alabama Mexican food, Rodeo's isn't bad. It's right in front of the Marriott Courtyard. Both of those serve alcohol, though I think the one downtown is just beer and wine.

There's a decent BBQ place front of the Walmart called Hook's. More of a lunch place though.

Only bar I found was at the Santa Fe Cattle Company restaurant. It was pretty lame. I usually sit in my hotel room and drink beer.

Troy is a very small town. If you've got to be there for the whole weekend, you have plenty of time to experience everything it has to offer.

School's out, so I expect that the few college hot spots are pretty dead right now.

Place to eat would be the Half Shell on the elba highway. they usually have live entertainment on the weekends. the mgr is real cool. he is an SAE ask for scott ward and tell him alex richards sent you. he will hook you up with anything and everything.
momma goldbergs is downtown, good japanese place past walmart
Local bars are the front porch and double branch. both usually have live entertainment on the weekends. these are the college hang outs.

Troy is a cultural wasteland. Honestly, you would be better off staying in Montgomery and driving 45 minutes to be in Troy.

When my cousin visits his girlfriend down there, they always have to go to Montgomery to eat because there's nothing worth going to in Troy.

Actually, that is the peak of culinary arts in Troy.

Make sure to wear a Troy 3 piece suit (basically the same as a normal 3 piece suit, but replace the vest with Kevlar)

Good Luck

I'm from central Alabama and I've never been to Troy other than just driving through. There's a reason for that
