According to numerous UGA outlets, it appears that UGA and Notre Dame have struck a deal for a home and home series starting with UGA in South Bend in 2017, with a return trip to Sanford in 2019.

ETA: AD Greg McGarity has declined comment at this time regarding an official announcement on this series. It appears that it may be 24-48 hours before it is official.

Probably the best choice for ND, objectively.

Bama would crush ND for sure. Auburn could beat them, but a win wouldn't provide as much momentum. Same for LSU.

UGA will probably still beat them, but they'll have at least some chance and UGA is a big enough name that a win or two would be very good for ND's resume and ego.

I think it has a lot more to do with recruiting than any of that. It's not surprising that there were talks of a home and home, then ND renting out Georgia State for a satellite camp this summer, and then this announcement.

Don't see why everybody thinks this is so good for Notre Dame? They're gonna get massacred.

Your entire post is speculation. You have completely no idea what the landscape of the teams listed will look like in a year, much less 3.

Exactly. No one has any idea how good any team will be from year to year. To say nothing of a teams worth in 2017 or 2019.

Really? I was assuming my post was inside info from the ND AD.

Don't be an idiot. I'm complimenting UGA. UGA is a big brand, bigger than more recent successful programs like Auburn and LSU. Pretty much every SEC school wants a series with ND. I'm sure ND could choose whoever they wanted, and the idea of playing UGA came off as the most attractive.

I do think recruiting inroads to GA would help, although I always question how much it really matters for two well-known schools playing a 2 game series.

Seriously? How the hell do you know how good any of these teams will be in 3 years.

If it happens, it's a good pick up for UGA.

I never intimated that your weren't complimentary of UGA; but to assume "Bama, Auburn , and LSU would definitely beat ND" is quite short sided. Regardless of what you think Notre Dame's most attractive match up is.

There's a new rumor that UGA is also in talks with Texas in addition to rumored talks of a neutral game vs FSU.
