Butch is doing a good job. he's calling a spade a spade.

quote:

The second: he unsurprisingly offered his unequivocal support for Butch Jones. The second-year coach is coming off of a 5-7 season and must deal with heavy losses along both lines of scrimmage, but Jones is nonetheless still "going in the right direction" according to Manning.

"I think Butch had a lot of work to do when he got here. He's put in that work," Manning said Monday, according to the Associated Press. "He's signing some of his players. Every coach wants to have their players. He's been patient. At the same time, he's been hard-working, as he was advertised to be. He's done that. I just see it continuing to get better. I really do."

"I really like Butch," he said. "I'm a big Butch Jones fan."

Would you expect Manning to say anything else? I mean Jones may or may not be doing a good job, but it wouldn't be in Manning's best interests to be an outspoken critic anyway.

Peyton Manning returns to East TN to help local children

LINK

quote:

Former UT quarterback Peyton Manning returned to Knoxville Monday to raise money that will help local children.

On Monday, the Denver Broncos quarterback met with more than 200 golfers playing in the Peyton Manning Golf Classic at Fox Den Country Club in Farragut. The tournament benefits both East Tennessee Children's Hospital and Manning's PeyBack Foundation.

Children's Hospital said it uses the proceeds from the event to buy equipment for the Emergency Department. The PeyBack Foundation, established by Manning, provides programs that promote leadership and growth opportunities for at-risk youth. All the proceeds from this tournament will help children in Tennessee.

"Knoxville's been so good to me. That's kind of what the PeyBack Foundation is about, paying back the communities that have impacted me," said Manning. "Knoxville has had a huge impact on me. We're proud of what the PeyBack Foundation has done, giving funds to programs here in this area that are helping out kids in this area that don't have life easy. And it's hard to believe it's been 17 years. We're proud to partner with the East Tennessee Children's Hospital, helping a lot of kids in a lot of different ways."

Last year, the Peyton Manning Golf Classic raised close to $150,000 for East Tennessee Children's Hospital.

After the tournament, Manning said he'll visit the UT football team.

He praised Jones? Finally a player returns to his alma mater and praises the current coach. Next maybe we can get coaches to finally say that one of their players has gotten better in the off season or a recruit to say he had a good time on a visit to a school. Maybe one day.......maybe one day

I mean if joe Namath, Bo Jackson, h walker, etc did the same thing for y'all, you would be saying the same thing. Shut up. If one of the best qbs of all time offers his opinion on a football coach, take it for what it's worth. I know it's his alma mater, but I'm sure he would have good things to say about pretty much every coach in the SEC

Peyton Manning is my favorite non-UF SEC QB.

I wish they would have let him play there forever.

Florida went to the Citrus Bowl that year and Peyton won the SEC.
