Matt Smith @MattSmithCFB - If Vandy wins one more game, Mississippi State will be the only SEC school to not have won a national title in one of the big 4 sports.

Not sure who Matt Smith is, but is this accurate? Also, what is the 4th big sport?

Football isn't "Big" it is only. Since it is not run by the NCAA is doesn't qualify as big as it is its own entity

In actuality there are not 4 "big" sports

Only Football and Men's basketball count..

all other sports are just a financial wash at best.

Actually these are semi-pro athletes so they can't be compared apple to apple with the other true student-athlete sports.

Minnesota beat Ole Miss 2 out of 3 for the 1960 football national championship, so Ole miss doesn't have a big 4 natty.

out of the 360 Division 1 schools, only football and basketball, have at least 70% of the schools with teams. FBS & FCS ( 248 ) BASKETBALL ( 351 ).

Baseball is less than 60% at 211 and considering most schools do not make money on baseball programs.

I say there is no question that it is no more important that golf, gymnastics, or track & field... it is nice to win though.
