The full report shows the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers MSA (Northwest Arkansas) in 2013 had the nation’s seventh fastest-growing economy among large metropolitan areas. It grew 3.8 percent last year, the report shows.

I guess that's great. I sort of hope growth doesn't really ramp up too much. We grow steady. I don't want us becoming the next Austin as far as growth.

This. I don't mind a little growth, but I'd prefer most of the transplants to stay north of 412

Too late.

Fayetteville has 80,000 people not a single damn road that goes East to West through the city.

The interstate needed to implement a parallel access road system with multiple on ramps and exits, it's a clusterfrick and the 5th and 6th lanes are going to take FOREEEEEEEEVERRR to build. They took this weekend off, and most weekends they take off, and when it the weather turns in the fall they'll say it's too cold to work and it'll sit idle til spring, then it's too rainy to work, then in the summer it'll be too hot to work and before you know it people are driving to Siloam to Gravette to get to Rogers from Fayetteville.

Hwy 112 needed to be 4 lanes a decade ago, but they haven't made a single improvement to it in 30 years.

The logistics situation here is ridiculous considering a couple of the best logistics companies in the world reside right here.

Trolly or Rail is my suggestion.

I want NWA to keep exploding yet Fayetteville to stay a college town. It honestly looks like this is likely to happen.

Yeah, Fayetteville can still grow a lot and remain a true college town. With all of the start ups here now, the biggest growth in Fayetteville is still young, smart people. News like this is good, I guess. But yes, I hope the majority of the growth happens in Benton County. I'm totally fine with that.

Fayetteville has sort of changed function only in the manner that is serves as the "liberal" and crunchy neighborhood in a metro of 500k, instead of the "center" of that metro.

High probability this will happen for various reasons.

It will certainly not be the center and will be on the south end just as it should be.

I like seeing this..

I want NWA to spend money and stay in NWA and not head to Tulsa, Dallas or Kansas City for various events. The AMP Pavilion and Shops among restaurants are helping to do just that.

Best figure on that graph IMO.

Sun, I may be in LA next month visiting and may possibly move there next summer.

You let me know. I'll be happy to get a beer with you and give you advice you won't listen to when moving to LA.

and what is going on in the Inland Empire for them to be growing too. Has that become the only affordable area to live in out there?

Here's another recent article about passing the 500k mark, what it means, and the start up community here: LINK

quote:

While Malone and his organization focus on the larger issues facing the region and its efforts to bring in more jobs, a younger generation is doing its part to establish this area as a metro of choice. Aided by an entrepreneurial spirit and a grasp of technology, a new breed of dealmaker is emerging from beneath the shadow cast by Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Tyson Foods Inc., and J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc.

David Baker, the founder of digital marketing firm Moxy Ox, recently sold his stake in the company and, among other things, is now a product owner with digital marketing group RevUnit in Bentonville. Baker, 27, has the background and resources to live and work where he pleases. He chooses to stay here.

“I can’t envision leaving the area anytime soon because there’s too much going on,” Baker said. “It grabs you and you can’t ignore it. It’s hard to make an argument that you can do something there that you can’t do here.”

And this quote stuck out to me. This is very true. Since the beginning of Crystal Bridges, the Walton Family has made it clear that they are going to invest in the area more and more.

quote:

The most important economic driver in the region, the Walton interests, have dug in their heels, Smith said, and people will continue to migrate to this area in search of their fortune.

First, some of the grandsons supported the Benton Co. wet issue. They are the same ones investing heavily in downtown Bentonville. Now we see Walton family members buying up properties in downtown Springdale, too. The Walton Foundation has dropped a lot of money the past few years for trail construction and parkland acquisition across the region.

There seems to be a Walton $ related announcement every couple of months now. They are investing in quality of life amenities constantly here.

I mutter this under my breath constantly when I'm stuck in traffic and happen to glance over at one of the plethora of bike trails and paths we have.

Bentonville fap video. There is so much happening there now, and a couple of great projects underway downtown, including Thrive, the new urban WM and the Amazeum.

The Arts area in Bentonville is becoming stupid good.

As for the Amazeum... it should be neat but I'm very particular about my modern buildings..

I wish ERC would do something similar in Faytown. The area around Eureka Pizza, or down around S. School Ave, or even near Evelyn Hills, something like that would be killer.
