Carr announced his commitment to Auburn Tuesday morning in front of his family, coaches, teammates and friends at Southside High School.
Carr, who is rated a 4-star, the nation's No. 7 offensive tackle and No. 66 overall prospect by Rivals.com, narrowed his list to Auburn, Alabama and Georgia before choosing the Tigers. He also considered offers from Florida, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Penn State, Texas and Louisville.
"I'm proud to say I'm committed to Auburn University," he said at a ceremony at Southside near Gadsden, Ala.
Despite growing up an Auburn fan, the decision was tough for Carr after he visited Alabama approximately 10 times over the past 18 months, developing a close relationship with the Tide staff including offensive line coach Mario Cristobal.
Carr also developed a close relationship with the Auburn staff through more than a dozen visits, especially offensive line coach J.B. Grimes and running backs coach Tim Horton, who recruits the Gadsden area.
Carr, 6-foot-5 and 323 pounds, is Auburn's 16th commitment for the 2015 class and fourth offensive lineman. He's a December graduate and plans to enroll at Auburn in January.

Really interested to see where he goes. He's shown us some love, but we seem like a distant third. At the same time, seems like there are quite a few Bama/AU fans in this site that don't want him.

You always hate to turn down in state kids with potential but he doesn't really fit the style of linemen that Auburn has been going for as well as a few others left on our board.

Makes sense. I certainly wouldn't mind picking him up as a little project at guard, he already has some size that he just needs to reshape. It's going to be awkward on here whenever chooses one of the instate schools, though.

Pretty much. Only way it makes sense for Auburn to take him is if we are moving one of our current guard commits to center. Which would be annoying given we are in decent shape with two good actual center prospects.
Not a big deal I guess, as long as we are saving room for the top ranked OL we are in on, but not going to be too many excited for him to be picking AU or AL I'm sure.

Carr has Gump written all over him.

It'll be Auburn. Got a cousin that is friends with him. Would be surprised if it's UA.

I want this kid. I want kids that grew up pulling for AU

I really hope so. We have enough guards committed.

If he picks Bama I'm going to cry.

I don't understand this sentiment. He's a project but he has the size to be developed into a good guard.

My thoughts exactly. I wish the coaching staffs of each team felt the same way as some of the posters here because I would love for UGA to snatch him up.

The problem is that we are recruiting him as a tackle.
We already have Lester Cotton, Richie Petitbon, and Dallas Warmack as guards, and I would rather have instate OG Darryl Williams over Tyler Carr. There is just nothing special about Carr's film.

Bone says he does not expect Carr to pick Bama.
Congrats Aubies. I really like this pickup for y'all.

i think carr can be a very good SEC guard down the road... OL recruiting is a crapshoot anyway... he's got an agressive mindset and appears to be a solid athlete. He's probably not quick enough to be play OT, and maybe he realizes that now.

He will take awhile to develop, and I agree that he could be good eventually. The problem is that Bama is sitting at 19 commits, and we are in it for a lot of elite prospects. I just don't want a three year project to take the place of some other recruits we are after.
