We left tupelo about an hour ago headed for Omaha. From what I can tell, St. Louis is about the halfway point between Tupelo and Omaha. Here's the situation. We are stopping to get a room and watch the game at 7, and if we win we will drive the rest of the trip tomorrow. We could make it to Cape Giraudo by about 5:30, but we'd like to drive further than that if we could. If possible, we'd like to avoid staying in St. Louis. Is there a nice town to stay at in between cape and SL? By nice I mean hotels, restaurants, etc. TIA

Excellent scenery if you take the southern route - Memphis, Jonesboro, Springfield. And it's not as far but will take longer than St. Louis.

No help on Cape Girardeau to St. Louis, sorry. Last time I was there was late at night with ice on I-55. I don't recall any towns at all.

Oh, well nevermind then.

I'm more of a central Missouri guy, but based on my experiences I've never seen anything really nice about any of the places between the Cape and St. Louis.

Memphis to St. Louis is pretty much a wasteland along I-55. There is the original Lambert's in Sikeston, but that's about the only stop I've willingly made on that stretch of interstate.

No.

Sorry.

I'd go west of Saint Louis to St. Charles. There's some casinos, plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping in old town St. Charles.

There's almost literally nothing from Cape to St. Louis.

Tup didn't mention that he is too young to get into any of those places.

Then he should stop at the Super 8 in Perryville. It will hold as much excitement as anywhere else he can go.

This is true. Not much between the Cape and St. Louis.

If I were making this trip I would either route through (suburbs) St. Charles or Chesterfield via I-270 to avoid St. Louis city. Plenty of hotels and places to eat through either.

South of St. Louis and north Cape you could stop in Perryville, Festus or Arnold but the pickings are limited.

Hope you get to finish the trip!

You should stop in Chesterfield Valley.

The biggest capitalist smorgesbord gang bang on the planet, right on prime farmland.

Hotels and food galore ect and out of the way of the city.

Watch the game at Fox n Hounds

This is all correct. 3 Brooks Brothers stores within a 3 mile radius.

The best route would've been US 63 from North of Memphis. Good Highway these days, pretty much all 4 lane in MO. Then you could've stopped in Columbia for the night.
