Its still fricking hot, dry or wet, scorching down there.

The advantage would be we get to wear our whites, and TTU will likely be wearing their blacks, but possibly their reds.

They will pass for at least 400 and maybe 500 yards if our DBs play like they did last year.

I think we can score practically every possession IF we don't shoot ourselves in the foot with missed assignments and turnovers.

Not sure exactly HOW potent their offense is going to be, but I figure they will score 3 or 4 times on us too.

If we play well, Hogs 45-28.

*I'm going to assume there won't be any major injuries going into the game; knock on wood.

Honestly, I'm much more worried about Ole Miss and MSU than TT. As long as we deal with Rika Levi on a consistent basis(I read where he's hit 495 on bench press;I'd imagine his squat and clean numbers are pretty sick, too), I think we'll run completely over them. And if they stack the line like they'll probably have to, I believe we can shred them over the top if we can get good production from at least two of: Henry, Hatcher, Edwards, Robinson, Cornelius, Hollister, Wilson, Mitchell, Derby, Morgan, Floyd, Payne, Saunders, or maybe Cowan. . .

I think our entire defensive front will cause them serious problems, particularly Flowers. For example, Cedric Ogbuehi seems to be considered by a lot of people to be a premier OT. On one play last year, Flowers literally took hold and slammed Ogbuehi face first into the ground. I'm pretty sure they had Matthews on him the majority of the time not too long after that; Matthews seemed to handle Flowers for the most part, but they don't have a top 10 draft pick anywhere on their line.

I'm also not worried about their HUNU either. If we get the pressure on Webb like I think we will, they won't be on offense for sustained drives.

Some fans on both sides seem to think weather will adversely affect the players. I don't see why they feel that way. The average high during the month of the game is 4.5 degrees higher in Lubbock than Fayetteville. The average high for September in Lubbock is 84.5(it's 91.3 vs. 90.5 in Fayetteville for August); yeah, that's just brutal. Also, the humidity in Lubbock is not as bad as sub-tropical Arkansas.

Lastly, Clay Jennings is the real deal; Taver Johnson was/is not. I know that may come off as sour grapes, or whatever, but it just seems to me that one probably wouldn't get "demoted" twice by being a sound fundamental-football coaching rock superstar.

Anyway, Jennings worked and learned for 6 years from one of the best defensive gurus in the business, and I think the CB's will be much more improved. Another issue, from what I understand,is that Ash and Johnson never got on the same page from a communication stand point, hence the "spirited" coaches meeting during the season that Bielemia mentioned in a press conference(just a heads up, this information was from Mike Irwin who posted it on Hogville; his story makes sense and the two people Irwin accused are no longer with the program, so...);I'm willing to wager we don't have that problem this year.

There are 5 football games where I expect us to totally dominate the line of scrimmage and TT is one of them(the others are A&M*, UAB, Nichols State, and NIU). I think we win fairly convincingly. . .maybe 31-17ish.

By the way, that 2013 Arizona State team that TT beat were a bunch of posers. They were very lucky to beat a decent Wisconsin team at home;they got smoked by Stanford both times they played them; their best win was against a scrappy UCLA team who went 2-3 vs. ranked teams.

*Myles Garret will be tough to defend when we are in pass pro, but them losing Golden and Caliborn is huge for us.

Yeah I agree that we will handle the heat just fine, and like Dale said we'll be in our all whites.

I've also heard that it can get windy during the day in Lubbock, so if TT is trying to air it out all day, it will adversely affect their offense a lot more than ours.

They better not pull out some slate grey bullshite for that game.

My thought?

Arkansas goes 4-0 in OOC games and beats Texas Tech 38-31

Tech has a lot to replace and some imo iffy returning players. I'm not sayin it'll be a cakewalk but I got y'all 30ish to 25ish

Should learn a lot about how this game in Lubbock will play out based on your opener, imo............ Cause, if your D has trouble slowing the pace of the up-tempo auburn thugs down at a measly 500 foot elevation…………then do you understand what it’s going to be like for them chasing an up-tempo offense on the High Plains of West Texas at an altitude Seven times higher than that?…….

We're talking 3,500 feet mean sea level here. And dry air too....


Anyway. Lungs will naturally pump battery acid inside un-acclimated player's chests in the thin air of that altitude when they get winded. And it will burn.



I’d probably set the line at Texas Tech -7.5 based on elevation/relative-oxygen-levels alone to be perfectly honest………………Just how I see it. Good Luck though.
