War Eagle VI has died at the age of 34. As we all know nothing in sports compared to that fly before a home game. Get chills everything I see it. This ones for you, Tiger. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrr Eagle. Hey!!

What ever happened to the eagle statue that stood outside Beard-Eaves? That was a landmark/meeting place for the longest time.

Tiger was a great bird and a wonderful part of Auburn University.

She used to live on campus when I was a student, which was pretty sweet. You could walk by her habitat between classes and people used to nap on the grassy area out there. Feels like in this day and age you couldn't have her on campus b/c somebody would probably try to harm her (old guy rant for the day).

And that eagle statue in front of BEMC was awesome. It needs a place of prominence on campus.

I agree with this post. Very nice.

NOW FOR THE REAL QUESTIONS

1. who are you?
2. How long have you been here?
3. How did you get access?

I remember when they would feed her outside of the cage when we were changing classes. I never got over how fat those arm protections were for the trainers.

I remember thinking when I started at Auburn that bald eagles were the cool ones, why isn't ours a bald eagle? Then, I just came to prefer golden eagles. They look so much better.

I still think we should've returned the favor and let Tiger go after a UGA player after he ran out of bounds. Although I gotta feeling it'd been pretty horrific.

See Tiger could've done some damage if we had let her.

There is a story about Tiger chasing UGA across the field one year in Athens.

Not sure if it is true or not, but as the story goes, Auburn was in Athens in either the late 80s or early 90s. Tiger was on her perch on the AU sideline (she traveled with the team at that time.) During warmups, the Georgia cheerleaders were walking UGA around the perimeter of the field, and when they got over by where Tiger was, UGA stops and just goes into this real ferocious bark. The cheerleaders try to pull him away and je won't budge, just sitting there barking. Finally Tiger gets tired of it, jumps off the perch and heads right at UGA, talons first. The leather straps catch her just before she gets to him. UGA freaks, jerks so hard he pulls the leash out of the cheerleader's hand and runs across the field to get back to his doghouse.

Oh, if only that had happened in the times of smart phone HD video cameras everywhere.

I really like having a killer animal on our sidelines.

I'll spare posting the pics but my google images search for all things golden eagle just enlightened me about how these golden eagles bring down deer, wolves and foxes and eat them till there is nothing left. Hate to say it, one tried to steal a kid. One attacked some woman and it took four guys to get it off of her, the entire time it's beak is closed. Serious face the entire time.

If he'd done that taken him all day to eat UGA though, the thing is just a tub of goo at this point. And probably toxic due to the inbreeding.

I guess in that way, eating UGA could have killed Tiger.

Best Golden Eagle gif I found in my search.

It says it's a hawk, looks like an eagle to me, no? Slowed down it's probably a good candidate for one of those "SOON" gifs.
