The absolute radio silence from Ferguson just keeps on making me curiouser and curiouser. Someone was claiming a pay site had some info. from his dad but I can't find anything new and the poster didn't say what site.

This just seems one of the weirdest transfers I can recall - not a word of explanation from Riley when usually players say at least something even if it's only 'I will miss my teammates but this is best for me.' Usually players say at least something.

Anyone have any clue what the hell happened or any new info?

Utterly effing weird. It's been almost a month and yet no news on anything - not even a decent sounding rumor beyond the first days of 'maybe he's going to play with his brother in Charlotte.' I figured something would've leaked out by now.

I tell you as good as Jones is at being open and making the press think they have access, he and Dave Hart know how to shut down leaks. US spy agencies could take some notes from them.

Well it does appear we have news.

UNC-Charlotte couldn't take him so that very much looks like a grade issue. UNC-Charlotte ain't UNC and even at schools like UNC, Virginia, and Stanford athletes get special admits. THAT makes me wonder if RF flunked his entire time here and if he did why on Earth did he think he could up and transfer. UT could've and probably would've allowed him to stay and put him on academic probation but the terms would've likely been mini-term, both summer sessions, and a probationary year in which he had to get maintain a certain GPA just to stay. Depending on how bad it was it might've taken years to raise it to eligibility standards.

But why did he think any non-JUCO would take him. It's one thing once you're admitted as whether student or student athlete schools will give you time to right the ship but another to think you can get admitted to another school with super bad grades.

Here's the official bolt but it's not to see what happened (I think saying they can't take him versus wouldn't take him/don't want says a lot):

Hopefully he gets his act together at a JUCO or lower level school that can take him.

Another tidbit. These are the rumors on at least one UNC-Charlotte board are that (a) the staff wasn't impressed/happy with how RF handled his release from UT and that (b1) he's either thinking of walking on since he's been denied a scholly and (b2) he's not considering anywhere else.

Honestly, I don't buy that the UNC coaches denying him a scholly because he didn't bother to meet with UT coaches when he was scheduled to - this is football and UNC-Charlotte coaches, imo, would've taken him even if they didn't like it. No way you turn down a D1 player from an SEC school whose younger brother is a productive WR on your team just because you don't like that he didn't show up to a meeting and stiffed our coaches. Back then, it was pretty clear that to me that RF's family was trying their best to get him to meet and change his mind but his mind was made up and he wouldn't change.

Universities can't come out and say there's a grade issue without direct permission from the student and even if they had it would be bad form to say squat to the public about a player but .
again that's what this looks like.

If he had intentions of enrolling and walking on he should've already enrolled for a late summer term but the UNCC poster said he's not listed as a student.

IMO, it sounds more and more like a severe grade issue. One that would keep him ineligible for a while unless he took all the summer terms + miniterm and overloaded his regular semester schedules with more than the standard hours. IIRC, the NCAA also doesn't allow transfers when you flunk out although since UNCC is still technically D2 the rules may be more lax but they're scehduled to be D1 in 2015. I'm not certain of the rules regarding that. But again we'll see. This is just what I've uncovered so far.
