Already happened. The NCAA's for Indoor is usually smack in the middle of March Madness so it gets lost in the shuffle.

Other than one being indoor and the other outdoor, I've never really understood what the difference is and why track places an emphasis on them being separate things. Can someone who knows track better explain?

Oh and GBO and SEC!

Apparently Kendell Williams from UGA just became the third freshman girl ever to win the heptathlon. She also won the Pentathlon at the Indoors. Congrats to her!

As long as I've followed LSU track, the only noticeable difference is just a few events. For example, they run the 60m dash in indoors and 100m outdoors; same goes for hurdlers. they also do not run the 4x100 relay in indoors

What happened to Tennessee's program? it used to be LSU, tennessee, an Arkansas as the best in the SEC for the men and women

Thanks for the explanation - it sounds like it's more a quirk of track seasons than anything else. I could see them initially planning the two to have more differences but for whatever reasons it not really happening.

As to what happened to us... former AD Mike Hamilton happened. For a time, we hired ONE coach to coach both the men's and women's teams. He'd been pretty good at coaching our women's team but things tanked badly when he was put in charge of both and he lost his touch in general and had really been living off one great season (fans and track alums are torn over whether or not he was all that good even when he was coaching just the women).

Thankfully, we just recently fired him. I'm hoping like hell we don't repeat the same mistake again. We need to hire better coaches and we need to hire for BOTH teams.

We actually have one head coach for both squads. It's how we did it with Henry. It definitely has its pros and cons.

Any for whoever watched the 4x100 women, what happened to the LSU girls? We have 3 freshmen in the relay, so I'm not surprised something went wrong

Up until recently we always had two and going to one coincided with our decline so I've always given the guy we just fired a little more slack than others even though it was clear he just wasn't very good (one good season does not a good coach make).

Yep. Baton Rouge native Kamaria Brown won the national title in the 200 for A&M.

Yeah, and she's the 400m runner we've desperately needed the last couple of years.

Our track coaches are like Brick Haley when it comes to recruiting middle distance runners: always second place

we do have the best short sprinter coming in next season (mikia brisco), but it sucks A&M stole another 400m talent out of Louisiana (Marquita Stalbert)

However, today has been a great showing by the lady tigers too.

2 school records broken today and two 2nd place finishes. Very competitive NCAA championship.

LSU girls now sit in 5th. Hope that holds; pretty sure we're out of points

LSU was a baton rouge native and Natayo Goule not transferring to clemson with Elliot away from being a top 3 team. whatever, we'll be back next season.

I really can't decide how I feel about Shaver. there are definitely some better coaches out there, but we'd be a laughing stock firing a guy of his pedigree

Texas A&M men were .01 away from tying LSU's 4x400 record to win. Congratulations

LSU men got third, not bad
