In no particular order, and for the purposes of your personal rankings (if I've left someone off you think should be in, please list them). Also, please list the score you consider the best from your favorite.

Ennio Morricone
Vangelis
Hans Zimmer
John Williams
James Horner
Carter Burwell
Steve Jablonsky
Mark Mancina
Alan Silvestri
Trevor Rabin
Danny Elfman

A fistful of dollars
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The Mission
The Untouchables
Mission to Mars
Cinema Paradiso
Once upon a time in the West
The Legend of 1900 and a bunch of others

Ennio Morricone, easily.

Jonny Greenwood's score of "There Will Be Blood" and Trent Reznor's score of "The Social Network" are excellent recent ones.

Wrote my favorite movie theme ever. The Back to the Future theme.

Did my second favorite movie theme, Tim Burton's Batman. Also scored the MIB movies.

One not on your list:

Craig Armstrong

He scored The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge, Love Actually and Ray. Love that guy.

I'd put Howard Shore up there, too. Did LOTR, Se7en, Silence of the Lambs, The Departed, Big, Hugo, Aviator, Eastern Promises...

Yep. He does an amazing job the dark but campy films.

He also did Big Fish and Edward Scissorhands. He's in on a lot of Burton films.

Lalo Schifrin.

He did Cool Hand Luke, Bullitt, most of Clint Eastwood's movies, Enter the Dragon, and a ton of other movies.
