Seeing Vandy and Ole Miss punch their tickets to Omaha I started wondering how UGA baseball will be next season. Naturally my research led me to wikipedia where I found this golden nugget

quote:

Foley Field was built in 1966. The stadium was renovated in 1990, the same year that the University of Georgia won the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

I know it might seem like we are a far ways away from a natty, but I believe in miracles. Also UGA has won a national title every year it renovates Foley.

Will you believe in fairytales with me?

Sub .500 again in 2015.

Scott Stricklin is completely in over his head and will be lucky to last 3 years in Athens. He lost the team in 2014 by contradicting his own stupid BS ("gotta stay poised in the face of adversity" - really Scott? How about when you lost your MIND down 4-0 against Mizzou in the second inning), played favorites and created drama in his own clubhouse, and gave up on the season after he'd lost the team down the stretch.

Plus, he'll be lucky not to lose 8 or 9 players during the offseason, and he doesn't have a single hitter worth mentioning coming in next year. You're looking at 7 of 9 spots being freshmen or sophs.

Again.

And all of those being bottom of the order hitters.

That was immediately what came to mind when I read that. Just sounds bitter.

Of course the lineup will be all freshmen and sophomores. There really aren't any talented upperclassmen to speak of. Perno totally fricked up the roster

Let's just say I've got some real good connections to the program.

And anybody sitting around the dugout could hear Stricklin's tirades in several games. This, coupled with some other behind the scenes stuff like making Daniel Nichols his whipping boy, completely flew in the face of his "keep calm in the face of adversity" schtick that he sold the team on early on. And they tuned him out and quit. Rumor has it, those will result in several transfers including Crumley, Walsh, Stephens, and Jess Posey.

Add to this the times Stricklin flat out cost UGA games by sticking with a starter too long or milk a batter, then throw in the knee jerk reactions he had numerous times and his enormous ego, and you've got a bad situation in the baseball program.

He's got the baseball knowledge to do okay, but the guy has shown no ability to handle his roster.

I will bet you any amount of money you want that barring death, serious illness, or act of God, Stricklin will be here longer than 3 years.

So how much you wanna pony up?

Rest assured your post will be bumped in 2017. It's actually laughable to think he won't be here 3 years.

Have you not seen how our AD operates?

How so, IYO? How many games did you watch in 2014? How many did you make it to?

Do you feel like a subpar first season where virtually the whole team wound up hating the coach and multiple players transferred (some will wind up just quitting or hanging it up since they've graduated - though they have eligibility left) is a good return on a $650k investment?

I'm well aware of how the AD operates - and so is SS after a certain postseason meeting.

Well, in 2014 I watched the ones that were on TV but only attended one. Which considering I don't live near Athens is probably more than most people. The previous 2 years I lived out of state so attended none, but my last 3 years as a student I attended every weekend series and most Tuesday games as well, and have the ticket stubs to prove it if need be.

I feel like a first season doesnt' really mean anything honestly. If you've been watching the last few years of the Perno era, there were major clubhouse issues and they'd been there for years. People hated Perno, from players to parents to high school coaches and all in between. Even if we had Joe Torre in the dugout there's only so much you can do when you're starting from scratch.

Stricklin knows what he's doing. I don't see any reason why once he gets HIS players in here we can't make some noise. And to my biggest point, if you've been watching anything McGarity has done, you'll know that there's simply no way SS only lasts 2 more seasons, barring us only winning like 10 games a year both seasons.

I'd love to get in on this bet. Stricklin will absolutely be at Georgia for more than three seasons.

Well...uhm....but.....snarlf. At least you'll admit you're not very up on what's going on. And I don't mean any disrespect as baseball exposure is.....you know.

This is bullsh*t. Nobody should've rightfully expected an SECC or a CWS appearance, but to have a team that played better at the end of the season that they started, to have some semblance of cohesiveness, and to not have his guys quit on him down the stretch (due to his own vindictive behavior) is not at all too high from an expectation standpoint.

That clearly did not happen.

Luke Crumley is transferring. Rumors (strong ones) are that Jared Walsh, Jess Posey, and Brandon Stephens won't be back next year. Ross Ripple and Conor Welton graduated. Stricklin had a blowout directed toward Pete Nagel and left him off of the roster for Ole Miss and the SECT - again, more strong rumors he's transferring. Daniel Nichols - early Stricklin whipping boy, though to be fair, he finished well. Don't be surprised if he transfers though. David Gonzalez is supposedly already looking elsewhere, and Sean McLaughlin got the shaft on the way his injury was handled and was/is pretty disappointed and aggravated with Stricklin.

A new coach wants "his guys"....sure. This amount of turnover is pretty damn ridiculous though, and the guys coming in. It's very hard to win in the SEC with a bunch of babies, and that's what we're going to be looking at for the majority of the '15 lineup.

And if all the guys who've expressed interest in transferring go, UGA will lose at least 35 games next season.

Welcome to it then.

Why don't you name for me what you think the pitching rotation will be for '15 and how you think the order will stack up?

How do you think the hitting progressed in '14 and who do you look for to carry the mail in '15?

Out of all the dudes you listed Stephens is the only one that would potentially hurt the team if he left. Posey is only on the team because of his last name and the other dudes listed haven't done jack shite.

Pruitt hasn't even coached a game yet and he's run off people left and right. One has even come out publicly and said it was because he didn't jive with pruitt's personality. Sometimes you have to weed out the people used to the old way (under shitty perno) to get in the guys that will buy into your system.

I guess pruitt won't last long either.

Sounds to me like the only "babies" are the guys who are considering transferring because the mean ol' new coach yelled at them. Stricklin's bio speaks for himself, the guy knows how to coach baseball.

The whole point of this tangent isn't how good we will or won't be, who's gonna transfer or not, etc...it's if CSS will be here more than 3 years. And that answer is undoubtedly yes.
