If Saban cares about players why does he greyshirt and oversign?

You would think the man would have enough integrity to tell lesser players to go elsewhere instead of wasting their time. Is he not the biggest hypocrite in the NCAA?

Nick Saban should be drawn and quartered for this.

And sweet year old over signing article from some awful bleacher report type site.

Great thread

Easy answer.

He cares about his players winning championships.
That's a big part of his pitch to recruits.
And that's a big reason why guys are falling all over themselves to sign with Bama.

You could say in a way that he's protecting his players on his current 85 and giving them the best chance possible to win that championship.

What is wrong with greyshirting?

And is Alabama oversigning? How do you know? And if they are, are they the only offenders?

Well?

I didn't know their were any 'oversigning activist left.... I thought they all moved on to protesting green gas emissions or something. Oh player union message that's it!

No,since they don't enroll until spring.

They can easily reject kids scholarship after he pays his own way.

They may not be the one, but they're the worst.

That would just be 'the poors'.

Most college students don't graduate in May and wait until enrolling in January.

That's what is wrong with grayshirting.
You are changing a kid's life plans.

For the record Bozeman ended up on scholarship for that fall after Darius Paige was medically disqualified. And no, Paige wasn't processed. That was a huge blow to our nose tackle depth.

But don't let that ruin your flame.

I don't have a problem with a greyshirt since the kid agrees to it. If the offer is pulled after fall and the kid doesn't show up at the school then I have issues with it.

Bozeman is about the worst example to use against greyshirting. That extra three months is huge due to rehab time and strengthening time for his knee.

Many times, a kid is told, "we want you, but we have other positions that we need to fill. come fall, you might have to greyshirt.".
I have no problem with that.

I do have a problem with "we want you, and I can see you doing great things for us. even competing for time as a freshman". Then just before signing day at the last minute or in the fall just before students are about to enroll in classes, out comes the greyshirt.

I agree that there is a world of difference between the two scenarios.
