Bama fans, tell me about 4* QB Quinten Dormady

Apparently he's staying until tomorrow night in Knoxville for Gruden's QB camp. Originally he was planning on leaving this evening. There's also this update from Volquest.

Dormady was hurt last year and did not play. He is a 6'4 strong quarterback and was a top QB as a Soph. He has camped well and obviously shown great improvement warranting offers from top programs as listed above. In this race I will give Alabama the edge if Dormady is truly THE QB they want. Vols would likely miss out on TG6 if they take a commitment from Dormady. Another QB (who I won't mention for personal reasons) is visiting Alabama this week and he might be a higher priority but not sure. RTR.

Yeah it's no doubt a delicate situation especially with Gibson showing up tonight for the QB camp. TG has supposedly been Butch's #1 QB all year while Dormady has pretty much came out of no where in the last 2 weeks. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out but I would still for sure give Bama the edge for Dormady if he's the guy y'all want.

He showed out at a recent Texas QB camp. He would be a good get IMO, any other year he'd have the top TX schools all over him

I think he's kind of a poor fit for a lot of the Texas schools. The Air Raid schools (A&M, TTU, Baylor, and now TCU) typically look for a quick release. His delivery is more elongated so it's not ideal. Big arm, WCO type imo.

Doomsday Dormady really wanted to go to Texas. When Texas did not offer I believe Bama emerged as his top choice, but he was not sure he would get that offer either. I think Tenn was a place he was interested in and he felt comfortable with Butch. When Bama offered I think he really wanted to commit but he (and his dad) had planned more visits and did not want to overreact. They did appear to move up the time table though.
I agree that it appears to be a two team race between Bama and UT. I think he wanted the Bama offer more but now that he has it I think he is taking a good third look at UT because it's still a premier program and with Riley transferring it is probably a better situation.
Could go either way.

I didn't think his motion was that long but I've only watched him a few times. I'm pretty sure Boerne chucks it around out of the gun all day. He reminded me a bit of Taylor Potts so maybe you're right

Compare to Manziel on the same throw. Manziel's feet are better and his release is quicker. It seems so slight but as fast as Johnny got it out there, look how little room Swope had. One beat slower and he's getting hit as he catches it. That Y-Stick is a staple play in the offense

In all seriousness though, he is Bama's to lose. I would imagine CBJ has Francois and Gibson ahead of him due to the offensive system he runs.
There are rumors that he will take whoever commits 1st out of 3 or 4 QBs though, so who knows.

I think you guys have a better pitch with Riley gone, but I do think he knows that he is probably higher on our wish list. If he picks us, good luck with Gibson (I think that's who CBJ really wants/needs).

Seriously though, the Volquest dudes were on the money with this one while everyone else was saying Dormady was a Bama lock.
