ETA 15 July 14: In contrast to how the fans on the SECr voted; From Athlons and Phil Steele's magazines that have come-out since this thread was first started ... (see page 5)

Thank you to the Cheshire Hog ...

SCAR - we should field one of the finer OLines in the country this year, but who knows.

These guys have a lot of SEC trench warfare under their belts. (99 starts among the starters this coming season.)

I'm sure there are a half dozen better OLines in the conference this year?

quote:

Entering his senior season, South Carolina left tackle Corey Robinson is firmly on the NFL's radar.

The 6-foot-8, 348-pound giant was listed as the third-most physical player in college football, and the most physical player in the SEC, according to NFL.com. Here's how the NFL.com story described Robinson:

"Robinson might not be the most polished pass protector in the world, but he can drive people off the line of scrimmage as well as any offensive lineman in the SEC. Count him in the next crop of NFL-caliber left tackles coming out of the league. Robinson pairs with standout left guard A.J. Cann to make up a dominant left side on the Gamecocks' offensive line, one that will open some massive holes for star running back Mike Davis."

(LG) A.J. Cann was voted the "most underrated" player in the SEC this week by the league's 14 football SIDs, (as well as being named 1st Team Offense on Phil Steele's preseason AA Team).

Robinson has made 22 career starts, including all 13 games last season. His bio page on South Carolina's athletics website mentions Robinson "has the size to make NFL scouts take notice." Hard to miss a man who has the height of LeBron James and weighs more than Shaq.

Here are the top 14 players on NFL.com's list, shown in order of ranking.

14. Jarvis Harrison, G, Texas A&M

13. Luther Maddy, DL, Virginia Tech

12. Quinton Spain, OL, West Virginia

11. Cedric Reed, DL, Texas

10. Michael Bennett, DT, Ohio State

9. Todd Gurley, RB, Georgia

8. Ellis McCarthy, DL, UCLA

7. Dillon Gordon, TE, LSU

6. A'Shawn Robinson, DL, Alabama

5. Cody Prewitt, DB, Ole Miss

4. Karl Joseph, DB, West Virginia

3. Corey Robinson, OL, South Carolina

2. Denzel Perryman, LB, Miami (Fla.)

1. Brandon Scherff, OL, Iowa

ETA results based on replies after 4 pages:

1 - Auburn & LSU .... a tie, naturally, of course.
3 - Bama, A&M ... a tie. Super duper, no surprise I guess.
5 - Ole Miss ... the west just dominates the world apparently. Will they really be this good?
6 - SCAR, Arkansas ... a tie. Glad the East was allowed to sneak one in the top 6, appreciate it.
8 - UGA & Mizzou ... a tie, rounds-out the top half of the league according to the SECr.

10 - Miss St
11 - Tennessee
12 - Florida
13 - Kentucky
14 - Vandy

It would appear that the SECr believes the OLines in the East are going to be pretty bad this coming season.

It's a tossup between LSU and AU assuming both units stay healthy. Both return 4/5.

I'm not sure what out starting OL will be, but if I had to guess on what our best five would look like:

LT: Cameron Robinson
LG: Grant Hill
C: Ryan Kelly
RG: Leon Brown
RT: Dominick Jackson

That said, it probably won't work out that way. Seems that Arie and Shep will end up keeping their jobs at LG and RT respectively. Both were horrible in 2013, but maybe they've improved.

Grant Hill 6th man. We are also pretty stacked with depth. We wont have the best Oline in the SEC but we will be solid.
