The link is likely not safe for work, although the website is cosmopolitan.
I'll just say.. you were forewarned.
Lifetime announced a new reality TV series called Born in the Wild, a documentation of what happens when women actually give birth with no help from doctors [via EW]. The press release ponders, “What happens when the craziest experience of a woman’s life becomes truly wild, and soon-to-be parents decide to take on an unassisted birth in the outdoors?” Oh, I don't know. Disaster?
Lifetime says it is taking necessary precautions: Births will take place somewhat near hospitals and "a trained emergency professional will be on site." First-time mothers will not be allowed to participate on the show and all mothers will be checked for health problems ahead of time. So that's good.
But there are gynecologists who worry this is not a good idea, nonetheless, stoking the ongoing debate about home versus hospital births: “I understand everybody wants to believe we over-medicalize pregnancy and that it’s a natural process," maternal-fetal specialist Ron Jaekle told EW. "But it’s a natural process that historically has caused an extraordinary loss of life.”

Now.. after having clicked the link.. the question begs to be answered... Which OTB'er is most likely to do this?

Reading is fine. It's the picture they put in the article that's nsfw.

I know a few girls that would do this without the reality show.

I'm out. I'm finished having kids, but I would never have done this. I can't see any of the female OTB posters doing this, but I could see Sleeping Tiger being supportive of his wife doing this if he had a wife.

I thought natural birth was supposed to take place in water not squatting over a mat placed in a creek at water level?
How cold was that water is my question? Some of the creeks and rivers are still damn cold in the middle of the summer.
