If they remove signing day, they still need an end date or a cut off...and that is your new signing day.

There isn't a cut off now.

Obviously a kid has to enroll in classes to attend a school

Making the school and player honor the offer and commitment once it's made and accepted would completely change recruiting. Great idea.

Now if he can get rid of this type of circus when a kid signs.
If not, at least make English subtitles a requirement

I honestly don't know. But this is more about there NOT being a starting day.

I've always thought that the "contract" that they sign should be contingent upon the coach sticking around. Otherwise, it shouldn't be worth anything. Although they sign with the "school", they are really signing for the coach in most instances.

Signing day gets bigger and bigger every year, wall to wall coverage on multiple networks. It's second only to the NFL draft in its niche. Its not going anywhere.

I Could buy into this. Make that offer, and commitment to the school, be meaningful and binding.

That's essentially what it is now. I know teams shotgun out offers, but they'd still do that under his scenario as well. Nowadays, if a kid gets an offer and says "yes" on the spot, the school isn't going to be like "sike!" No school gives an offer to a kid they don't want.

There isn't one specific day, that is just the first day. There has to be some sort of "first day", or are we to say that a freshman in high school can go ahead and sign right there for 4 years later?

Not true. Some schools mail 60+ offers when they can only take 22 kids. If under Pelini's plan, 26 of them came back and accepted the offer, that school is fricked. The offer process would be much more deliberate.
