Pruitt's demanding approach on the field is similar to that of Alabama head coach Nick Saban, which makes sense. The two worked practices alongside each other in the secondary for three seasons in Tuscaloosa before Pruitt became a coordinator at Florida State before last season.

Everyone received reps and worked under Pruitt's direct attention. Poor reps were corrected and repeatedly. No one sat out and watched. This was a dramatic shift in intensity from how the defensive backs had been working in practices prior to this past spring.

"It's different, because they're working the whole time," Herrera said. "You're not getting the chance to joke around. You're not getting a chance to talk like that anymore. ... They have to change. They can't have all the fun like they used to. They can't joke around like they used to. They've got to be serious and ready to work every day. And that's everybody, really."

quote:

"You need a coach that's going to lay the law down and not be able to get away with stuff that maybe some guys have gotten away with, just as far as a disrespectful type of attitude over the past couple of years. It's just good to see a guy who's going to implement the law and lay it down and say 'Look, it's team. It's not me.'

"Guys that can't get along with that, as you can see, they're gone

Good.

this is the stuff we used to read when Richt first came to athens..Van Gorder would accept nothing but perfection...if an int was dropped during practice, that player dropped and gave some pushups, ran or whatever the coaches made him do...

maybe we have gotten our Van Gorder back..and this time Richt will stay out of the way..

Everyone that has been yelling to be like Bama...well there you have it! Pruitt is not messing around and expects guys to buy in or GTFO!

Martinez and Grantham did not instill accountability or real leadership. If you want to fault Richt I feel that he leads the coaches to develop their leadership styles and it does not work for some. Pruitt comes in and brings with him the expectation of what Saban has taught and wants. I think this staff is the right mix and the program will be moving in the right direction, as long as we can keep the staff for a while.

Good stuff. CTG was not about discipline. Neither were his predessors. There's a new sheriff in town, and he's bust in' heads!

Agree. I said it earlier but you can play tough guy and rattle people's cages if you're actually winning and seeing results. If you act like that and your defense is terrible, well you've got problems.

Our players hated VanGorders guts but they damn sure respected him and played their hearts out for him, and it showed. I'm hoping we'll get the same with Pruitt.

I am confused by your post. Did Richt get in Van Gorder's way? How? I have not heard that.

Which begs the question...WTF is CMR still HC at UGA for? Sorry guys, I like CMR as a person, but he is NOT a very good FB coach...at least not to me.

It's not even worth asking his opinion. He's probably one of those morons that thinks we should've fired him after 2006.
