Auburn friends, is your staff really going after Travis Waller?

That's the rumor going around tonight.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you already have Tyler Queen committed and have seemingly taken the lead for Gibson.

I have no real interest in Gibson being our QB of the future.
I'm sure we'll once again lead for him after he visits for Gruden camp this weekend though.

Exactly. Keep saying that Gibson isn't an SEC level QB, UNLESS he plays in a run based spread. What AU did last year would be fine, or what tOSU does. I just don't see him as a great "fit" anywhere else if he wants to play QB.

I see Gibson as a long term project at quarterback with an extremely high ceiling. The kid has a gun but has some mechanics to learn, the kid can move well but needs to add weight to a lanky frame. In the right setting and time he could grow into a great quarterback but the worst thing he can do is go somewhere that needs him on the field immediately unless he does a lot of work this year.

Do you get the impression that it would scare Gibson away if y'all took Waller? Waller is legit, and you already have Queen. Gibson might be the third best quarterback in your class if we are talking current pure quarterback (not athlete) skillset.

I think they really like the QB from that IMG Academy in Florida as well. Not sure on ranking, I'm sure another Aubie will though.

Has the Auburn staff even contacted Waller before today?
Seems odd that they would reach out this late given they already have one QB committed and lead for another.

Yes. VOLS are after Francois very hard as well but I'd be shocked if he didn't go to FSU.
He is visiting UT on June 16 so maybe something will change before The Opening.

I don't claim to be anywhere near an insider. We don't have the space to take 3 quarterbacks and I don't care to see us take two honestly but it looks like they want a true duel threat guy on roster at all times.
I think it all comes down to Gibson and Locksley for our second quarterback this year and it will be who takes the spot first. Apparently those are one and two on our board and in no order. Weird that Gibson is now saying he might move his announcement date up with spots filling up fast. I hate to see a kid rush a major decision like this but you can't dick around with top notch classes anymore.

We're going after Gibson, Kai Locksley, Francois, Waller, and Lamar Jackson ( in that order). I think we'll get Gibson or Locksley

Very rarely do you see a team go after so many QB's unless they are scrambling to find one (Alabama 2015 class). Could this scare away all of them? Any chance Queen leaves the class? I would assume no

Gibson probably isn't a QB for us. We'll probably "give him a shot at QB"
