Kinda weird to think about, but the NWA region pulls in enough concerts and cultural events now that the shareholders' meeting isn't a huge deal like it used to be back in the small-town NWA days.

Now I just view it as that time of year when a bunch of backpack-wearing foreigners are clogging up everything around town.

Anything cool happening? See anybody famous?

Jason Aldean is doing a concert tonight at Bud Walton.

There's a twitter campaign to give a load of shite to whoever winds up being MC or keynote, or whatever. Last year, Tom Cruise caught hell.

fricking anti-Wal-Mart dummies.

I forgot about it. My first time to experience this hell in over a decade. I was stoked that my morning drive to downtown was much much lighter than usual and then off work, I cross under the railroad bridge and BOOM! FML.

There was some group of wal-mart employees on the news protesting last night.

Their demand? A liveable wage of 25k a year.

frick OFF, there are actual college graduates who take their first job in that amount of yearly salary around here.

Minimal skills + minimal education? Expect minimal pay.

Drives me nuts

All this talk of raising minimum wage to $15 an hour would put me out of business.

she's cute- doesn't look like trash or a terrible redneck. i find her little extra fluff acceptable compared to lots of folks associated with arkansas who show up in pics on the interwebs.

also, agree with dale and hawgeye on the min wage and walmart workers bitching.

You would just charge more, assuming the private sector increased pay for the new increase in living cost.

That's what these fricktards do not understand, take the McDonald's worker for example, first these jobs were never meant to be a career. You flipped burgers during the summer, while in school, or in between jobs, not for 50 years of your life until you reached retirement age.

My first job was at McDonalds during a summer, yes, it sucked, I was paid min wage which was $4.50 or so back then, same price as a Double 1/4 combo, now that combo is damn near $8 and look where min wage is, the closely follow one another, the product is no better, probably worse, labor is higher, the employes get 50% off their meal while on their break.

So lets say min wage is raised to $15 an hour, a 20 oz bottle of coke would be $5 at the gas station you are paying $9 a gallon of gas for, and paying $15 for a combo at McDonalds.

It wasn't that long ago 15K was a really good salary in this country of course min wage was like 70 cents then as well.

If you can't afford to live the lifestyle you want, raising the min wage is going to get you there, it makes it harder on those who are actually living the lifestyle you want. If you want that lifestyle bad enough you will take advantage of the educational opportunities this companies provide, often times they will pay or reimburse you for your college tuition while you work there, that is a good deal to help you achieve the lifestyle you want as very few dictate what field of study you enter or have you make a commitment to work for them for an amount of time post graduation.

I'll say this, its beautiful having a U of A alum as CEO of the world's largest company. May this be an ongoing thing.

I just know her from the commercials. She's not a super fatty. She's been chubbier in the past, in the commercials.

Minimum wage in Arkansas is $6.25 an hour that is $12800 a year, that's not a lifestyle it's poverty. Seems the same people that complain about min wage are the same that complain about folks getting government help, can't have it both ways.

No but that sucker can get off his tail and go to school, and attempt to make something of himself. I'll help a man who is attempting to better his life.

Living in the Memphis ghetto for the past 4 years has opened my eyes to the reality of people who have no desire to do anything but scam the system and do nothing.
