looking at strength of your other division opponents when determining east or west champion. I don't know how you do that with permanents and no control over when you play the other ones.

The new College Football Playoff has forced the SEC to develop a new method to determine a divisional champion in case a battery of tiebreakers does not result in a champion.
In what would result in the seventh step for a two-team tie and the eighth step for a three-time tie, the SEC will use the combined SEC record of the teams' cross-divisional foes to determine the divisional champion, the SEC clarified Friday at the conclusion of its annual spring meetings.
