I would like TS and friends to give us some scouting insight. We lose 3 seniors on the golf team. I am sure there will be others that will agree and like this post.

Alabama Tennis loses only ONE senior, Mary Anne Daines, a decent impact performer I never really thought of her as a star, great athlete nonetheless.

The big guns of that team are Luicelena Perez, Emily Zabor, Maya Jansen, Danielle Spielmann and Erin Routliffe and they ALL return.

Coming in next year is Bennett Dunne, a five star from Florida and Aryn Greene, a 5 star from Georgia. Alabama is very much the newcomer to the College Tennis world elite and the "new kids on the block" label is helping to boost recruiting.

I saw on the bio page that we had a lot of young guns on the women's tennis.

For golf, Shelton was a freshman and was one stroke off from the national champion. That is something to look forward to.

In other news, I, like TS, cannot hit my driver for shite. However, my game around and on the green is money.

We are going to take a step back I would think in golf unless we have a crazy good recruiting class coming in.

And I can whoop you all

Coach Seawell was on Houston and Huber this morning and they asked him about next years team. He said that obviously Shelton and Lovelady would need to step into a leadership role. He said Gavin Moynihan would definitely be on the team. His bio is pretty impressive :

quote:

Boasts a long list of impressive accomplishments ... selected to play for the Great Britain and Ireland team at the 2013 Walker Cup Match ... 84th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings in August of 2013 ... won the 2012 Irish Amateur at The Royal Dublin Golf Club, becoming the youngest player ever to win the event at age 17 ...

We are also bringing in Jonathan Hardee as a freshman next year who will make an instant impact. Here is a little on him:

quote:

Hardee hails from Greer, S.C., and boasts a list of impressive accomplishments. He is an honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American and ranks 31st in the latest Polo Golf Rankings and 38th in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index.

According to Hardee, who also considered the home state Clemson Tigers, the difference was Seawell. "He is just an unbelievable coach," Hardee told GreenvilleOnline.com. "I'm just super excited about what he's going to teach me about golf, and what he's going to do with my life. It just came down to him. He was the deciding factor."

Hardee won the 2013 American Junior Golf Association's Brian Harman Junior Championship this past April at 6-under par. He tied for fourth at the 2013 AJGA Exide Technologies Junior Open and finished in the top 10 at the 2013 Rolex Tournament of Champions. Hardee also tied for 22nd at The Junior PLAYERS Championship and was 14th at the 2013 PING Invitational.

Coach Seawell then went on to say there would be a battle for the fifth spot, but we have some solid options. Losing 3 seniors will be brutal and we will definitely take a step back in the immediate future, but the overall future looks bright IMO.
