How would your State fare as an independent nation?

Doing research on the downfall of the Soviet Union and was surprised that with all the former Soviet Republics, none of them banded together following the collapse. Even the smaller ones. So unions with other states are prohibited in this "what if"
So how would your U.S. state function as a sovereign state?

To be fair, your last outing as a Republic resulted in massive debt that required statehood just to save your bacon.

That was like 175 years ago

Apart from the obvious success that would be the country of Texas, looking at other SEC states I think Florida would fare well on its own if it were to secede.

See "Republic of Congo" for reference.

it would depend on scenario. If no country is going to invade us then it is likely a lot of states would do fairly well. The dregs of society that take up welfare would likely be pushed out of the state or die if it was to become its own nation. I think LA could do ok based off that and we have deep water ports

SC was (briefly) it's own nation, so ok, I guess, but not really.

Since we already are a third-world country, I think we would do just fine...more US aid than we would know what to do with!

Wait..... does the United States exist in this scenario.
ie, would this be our state seceding by itself... or is it a Soviet Union dissolution type, where we'd be one of 49 other new nations.
Also, I know you said no joining other STATES. but I'm pretty sure Maine would be "f-ck it, can we join you Canada?"

Since it would affect us, we'd probably join as allies and send aid if some cartels are threatening our borders. Heck aiding the country actively fighting would be cheaper than fighting as well.
