And the SEC Coaches Want it Shut The Frick Down:

quote:

DESTIN, Fla. (AP) — Southeastern Conference football coaches want the NCAA to close a loophole that allows schools to take part in out-of-state summer camps with high school prospects.

Penn State and new coach James Franklin caused a stir down south when it was announced earlier this month that the Nittany Lions' staff would be working with prospects at Georgia State's camp in Atlanta on June 10.

NCAA rules prohibit schools from running camps out of state more than 50 miles from their campus. Penn State's presence at Georgia State's camp doesn't break the rule because the Nittany Lions are considered guests of the Panthers' staff.

I strongly agree with this - The Atlanta area is a fertile recruiting bed for USC FB in recent years. This Franklin dude is rustling mah jimmies....

I'm rustled too. Perhaps SEC schools should stop scheduling Georgia State if they want to allow B1G schools to poach our recruits. I bet if Bill Battle knew they were going to allow this shite, they wouldn't have been on the schedule last year.

I wouldn't be looking at Ga State in this situation. I'd be looking at Franklin finding a way to skirt the system. It's not like he wouldn't know Ga State football existed unless they played Alabama....or would he?

Shows me that he's doing everything he can do to win and get an in with kids in the south. He knows where most of the players are at.

I love that guy.

I love how all of you are bitching. If your coaches were doing it, you'd be here in this tread trying to justify their actions.

Yea Franklin is just being smart here. OSU fans are already beginning to hate him; I think it's good for the league to be pulling studs out of the south east west and north. The B1G needs PSU to be a good program to get back to being a strong league

Yep. Although, elite Georgia prospects leaving the state is nothing new.

I'm definitely in a minority as a UT fan, but I've always liked James Franklin. Guy has some charisma and fire in him.

But then again, I even liked and respected Spurrier while he was at Florida.

This doesn't give me reason to hate Franklin. Big 12 schools do this all the time in Texas. Oklahoma has a camp in Texas every year.

It's really just Franklin I don't like. I know guys that have worked with him in the past and they've confirmed what I've thought for a while. He's extremely fake.

This is just one way for the B1G to counter the oversigning that the SEC gets away with. Good for the B1G and other schools for doing this.
