I know HW34 is a Georgia icon and all, but would any of you support a political candidate just because he likes them?

No. But there are a good number of people that would. This country is full of dumb voters. Look at the White House.

Thousands of UGA fans across the state? Undoubtedly.

People listen to celebrities all the time. Smart, informed people don't, but the vast majority of people aren't smart and informed. The young demographic voted for Obama in droves. Some did so because they actually supported his platform, but most did so because celebrities convinced them he was the cool choice. Welcome to American politics.

Sounds like HW made a good endorsement, but I get annoyed by people who vote based on frivolous criteria such as how they look or whether or not they played an instrument on the Tonight Show.
People make me sad.

Good observations in this thread. I could never figure out why someone would vote for a candidate based on an endorsement. My hope would be that the individual voter would do their homework (which usually takes work and is not easy) and make an informed decision to vote on a particular candidate based on the merit of that person.
In reality we see voters making choices for all kinds of reasons unrelated to the merits of the candidates and sadly, among the masses at least, that's unlikely to change. So the politicians are going to play any angle available to them to enhance their chances for election.

I wish all of you would come over to OT board sometime and straighten out those people.
100% of y'all are spot on.

It's extremely difficult to keep my cool with the most asinine responses and name-calling. It's almost not worthy it.

The only endorsements that I can see meaning something are those that come from special interest groups that an individual respects. But even then, no one should vote blindly because an individual or a group endorses one candidate over another. Those should be another information point that can be included in the decision-making process.
Everyone needs to spend a little time doing their homework before pulling a lever or pushing a button in the voting booth. To me, ideology is more important than promises and smooth talking. Everyone tries to talk the talk when election time comes around. It's more important to see if a candidate has a history of voting a particular way on the issues or if he/she has been consistent with their rhetoric and actions over the years.
