We know who the top RBs are, but which one will gain the most yards catching passes?

I'm thinking Mike Davis, South Carolina.

Didn't Gurley lead that last year, while missing several games?

ETA-

In 2013:

Gurley- 441*
Davis- 352
Yeldon- 183
Collins- 63

Anyone else noteworthy, coming back from last year?

*ETA- Gurley averaged 44 yards per game receiving, if we add that for the 3 games he missed, he's at 562 yards receiving.

That's as much as some slot receivers in the SEC.

It's not even so much that Murray threw to him alot, its that when he does get thrown to, he never drops the ball and he always gets yards after contact.

Yep, but I personally imagine his targets in the passing game will go down simply to keep him healthy. I don't believe he's injury prone, but once your work horse gets hurt, you get a little worried.

I see the opposite.. he led that stat while hurt and missing 3 games entirely.

I don't see how that stat would get lower with him healthy.

More time to decide not to throw to him as much.

Either way, that wasn't the conversation this thread was for. Just want to see who everyone thinks leads in the category. I'm thinking Davis with Gurley in second.

Fournette will lead all wide receivers in receiving, all running backs in rushing, and all quarterbacks in passing. He'll even walk your dog and mow your lawn.

I think the targets will go up to keep Gurley healthy, throwing him the ball gets him away from the pile of linemen and backers allowing him to work in space versus smaller defenders.

Probably a good back with a new quarterback if I had to guess. A guy more likely to use his safety valve than let it fly or a coordinator that will want his guy making easy throws.

Yeldon
Gurley
Davis
Magee

This would be my top 4 prediction in no order

My vote would be for Gurley as well. Davis' numbers should go up with a passing QB under center, but Gurley's will as well as long as he stays healthy.

2013 - three RBs in the top fifty pass catchers
1. Todd Gurley, Georgia - 37 receptions, 441 yards, 11.9 YPC, 6 TDS, 44.1 YPG
2. Mike Davis, South Carolina - 34 receptions, 352 yards, 10.4 YPC, 0 TDs, 29.3 YPG
3. Jaylen Walton, Ole Miss - 28 receptions, 315 yards, 11.3 YPC, 2 TDs, 24.2 YPG

2012 - zero RBs in top fifty pass catchers
1. Spencer Ware, LSU - 18 receptions, 230 yards, 12.8 YPC, 1 TD, 19.2 YPG
2. Marlin Lane, Jr., Tennessee - 29 receptions, 228 yards, 7.9 YPC 0 TDs, 19.0 YPG
3. Jonathan George, Kentucky - 21 receptions, 223 yards, 9.7 YPC, 1 TD, 18.6 YPG

2011 - five RBs in top fifty pass catchers
1. Chris Rainey, Florida - 31 receptions, 381 yards, 12.3 YPC, 2 TDs, 31.8 YPG
2. Onterrio McCalebb, Auburn - 32 receptions, 344 yards, 10.8 YPC, 2 TDs, 26.5 YPG
3. Trent Richardson, Alabama - 29 receptions, 338 yards, 11.7 YPC, 3 TDs, 26.0 YPG

The only scenario I see Gurley not leading the league in every relevant category, barring an injury, is if the carries get split up evenly between him, Marshall, Chubb, Michel. If you do 30 carries a game and another 5 passes to running backs, Gurley is only getting 9 touches per game. Then he wouldn't be leading the league in any stat except probably YPC.

No single team was represented twice because this statistic depends so heavily on whether the back is a safety valve, catches designed passes, gets thrown screen passes, etc.

Probably average. COULD be a little better than average. We lost a couple of key pieces, but have a lot of experience coming back. Our OL underachieved last season, so we are hoping it shows improvement. LT will be our biggest problem again, probably. If Theus steps up, it could improve greatly.
