Memorial Day Weekend Message

I know most folks have some activity planned this weekend that includes baseball, hiking, camping, or some other fun things to do with friends and family. I buried a friend of mine this week who served when called and rose to Colonel. They remained active in family, faith, and community till very near the end. This person was a class act and mentor to many.
On your way to do what you plan to do this weekend take a few moments out of that time to remember those who served and to call or include their friends and family who are still with us and may be alone this weekend. Thanks, and have a safe and happy weekend.
(SEC related as their kids were recruited and played sports in the SEC)

Something we should all be able to get behind!

A Grits post I can get behind.
Spend a little time, do a little thought, get a poppy.

Since Sept. 11, 2001, 30 Aggies have been killed in service to our country. We’ll miss ‘em at Kyle Field this fall.
Thank you to the families—from every corner of this country, from every school, state, and walk of life—whose soldier made the ultimate sacrifice.

To all you brave soldiers who have fallen
Who left the comforting embrace of
Families, friends and home
To fight and protect the freedoms of others
In a faraway dry, dusty and desolate land,
We Americans honor and salute you.
Know that you will be greatly missed.
Know that you will always be remembered
For your sacrifice,
For your courage and convictions.
Your bright and promising light
Extinguished too soon.
We celebrate an honor your memory,
Who left the comforting embrace of
Families, friends and home
To fight and protect the freedoms of others
In a faraway dry, dusty and desolate land,
We Americans honor and salute you.
Know that you will be greatly missed.
Know that you will always be remembered
For your sacrifice,
For your courage and convictions.
Your bright and promising light
Extinguished too soon.
We celebrate an honor your memory,
