Not a very impressive offer list, you beat Bert out for this kid. He must have a family member who played or works at A&M

UT only takes 4 and 5 stars

he's actually 2 star on rivals. a true game changer
If theres one thing I know about recruit rankings is that they never change from May to February.

Sorry man, we'll inform him he's not up to the standards of phat Phil on the rant, and his offer has been pulled. Won't happen again.

Don't let the star gazers bother you. Great get, Aggies

Unlike you, I would trust that Randy Shannon actually knows what a good LB looks like. For an 82 3* player to be offered by two SEC schools in early May there is a good chance that he is underrated by the guys that don't actually coach football.

Stars can be hit or miss. D Claiborne was a two/three star and hes the Ags best defensive player. That said he could be a contributor in time. His athleticism is solid and he seems to read plays well.
Ags: Why did y'all take Garner will all of the top instate linebacker talent this year? Seems y'all are in the running for several top Texas linebackers so why accept the commit from this guy who seems to be toward the bottom? no flame serious inquiry.

I dont think we are in good shape with most of the top ILB.

Guess no one can get them all. Is Garner projected at inside? Personally with his athleticism and knowledge he could be a very good DE like a JJ watt type swatcity player

We're going to put him at SAM. We play a bit of bear front and he should be good at that. I think he lacks the first step to be elite ever but you can see the athleticism in his film.
We basically had one SAM sized LB on campus when Sumlin/Snyder arrived and he was a senior (Sean Porter). They don't grow on trees in Texas any more simply because those guys are all playing offense. With the prevalence of spread, it's also less necessary in the Big 12 so we hadn't really recruited the spot.
This year SAM is probably still going to be an adventure but the guys we've brought in will all still be there when Garner arrives. He is going to need to redshirt and really learn the position (he's a converted safety and has very little experience at it) but we're now at the point that we can take guys to develop them as opposed to forcing them on the field on day one. He's an okay project imo. It's not an exciting take, but I think he can be developed into a very solid player.

Hmmm...I didn't see this but what top in-state talent? There are a total of three 4* LBs in state this year. Wheeler we aren't recruiting and we think Townsend is a touch small (we prefer Moore at WLB).
And there are literally no elite LBs in the '16 class in Texas. It's a tough spot and I think we'll always struggle a bit to find bigger LBs necessary for some of the the SEC offenses.

As long as we get Malik Jefferson from the State if Texas, we have done our job, with the instate LB class. Might be able to get McGinnis from LA but not really sure where we will be looking to finish out this class at the LB position.
