Actually, the predictions aren't that crazy (a lot of 9-3, 10-2 reasonable expectations) but there are still some gems.
quote:

USC - WIN (Key losses on D, breaking in new QB)
quote:

We have a week off between Clemson and SC so SC is a win.
quote:

We are getting SC early when they are breaking in a new QB and defensive pieces
quote:

USCe lost Clowney, Shaw, Ellington, Quarles, Sutton, Legree, and like 4 other starters. Literally all their best players.
quote:

but it just seems like were a better team than almost all the teams on our schedule (IMO, all but Auburn).

Now, before all you Georgia fans come in here and get all mad, in no way do I think UGA is a guaranteed win for us. I'm just pointing out in this thread the hilarity in some of the reasoning some of these guys are giving for winning the game.

Yes y'all have a bye week before us, but we play ECU. Not much difference and could actually be better for us to give us an easy opponent to work out more kinks. Just gotta avoid injuries.

Yes we lose Shaw. But y'all lose Murray so that's a dumb as shite reason to give. Thompson has proven himself way more than Mason.

"Clowney sucks"- tRant all last season, " Clowney's gone, y'all are gonna suck"- tRant this offseason. But yeah our DLine is a worry/unknown at this point but this time last year we were worrying about replacing our entire 2deep at LB. We have a very good returning corp there.

Our offense should be very good next year even with the losses of Shaw and Ellington. 4/5 OLine returning, capable, proven QB in Thompson poised to take over for Shaw, Roland, Byrd, and Cooper will make up the core of a very good WR group, and we return all of our running backs including Mike Davis.

I think we win mainly because it's in Columbia. I'd have it down as a loss if it were in Athens. The talent/experience difference is just not a large enough gap between us to give one team an edge. I do however think Spurrier owns Georgia and we'll do enough to come out on top.

Eta- wayyyy longer/more in depth post than I intended. Guess I'm just excited for this game and wanted to talk some actual football.

We'll win because of sandstorm.

Forreal though, should be a good game and I can't wait.

I don't know anything about Mason so that is pretty funny how those posters were saying we are breaking in a new QB. Thompson was probably the most experienced back up in the country last year.

Just curious because I don't watch ever USC game, has Thompson started? I imagine he's gotten significantly more minutes than Mason. I didn't know if TOLB switched it up at all or if Shaw missed a start.

Either way, I think they're both pretty close on the experience front. Mason has been in the program for 5 years and started the last 2 games of last year and saw significant minutes against Kentucky.

Are you guys really banking on your third or fourth string running back? No confidence in Gurley and Marshall staying on the field for the whole game? He seems like he will be a good RB for you guys... just in 2015 and beyond.

Another year like last year, and we might have to. It's comforting to know that we have him coming in if we have injuries in the backfield. Guy is a beast.

No.

These two will get the majority of the carries but Chubb and Michel will get work too.

Thompson has three career starts (@ Missouri last year, @ Clemson and ECU at home in 2012) and logged significant time in three others (@ UCF last year, UAB and Michigan in 2012 (also threw 20 passes @ Florida in 2012, but that was when that game was out of hand). He has attempted 218 passes (completing 120) and has 14-5 TD/INT to Mason's 157 attempts (94 completions) and 8-3 TD/INT.

So not significantly more minutes than Mason, really. But he has played a lot more on the road than Mason has, which is something (I guess). Should be an interesting battle for best QB in the East.

Thompson is also a RS Senior so experience between the two is comparable.
What happened to Mason in 2012? Medical redshirt? Who will be the backup next year to him?

Faton Bauta will more than likely be #2

Went full contact in the G Day game pretty good with the feets too.

It's a rivalry game both teams are full of Georgia kids so, sure some homer-ism is always at play and why not!

I think we will waltz in there holding Clemson's pride on the sideline and do what they can't, win the South Carolina State title.

SEC east 2014 taste's like chicken!

No, it's not. We have been reminded of that on a daily basis for at least the last decade. So, no, you don't get to claim it as a rivalry game.

That's borderline incoherent.

It's been six years since you guys left Columbia with a win... do you even remember what it feels like?

Chubb is definitely a beast and, who knows, if he is as good as advertised he could unseat Gurshall?

Problem for all of your backs is that they are going to be getting hit by guys who are bigger and stronger along our defensive line.

We don't really have countless pictures of the Dixon Brothers, or Dukes, or Green, or Surratt to share with you ... but you'll just have to trust us, they are bigger and stronger than Chubb.

No one is afraid of Chubb.

With that understood, the SCAR vs UGA game has been a good one for years, probably the closest contested series of games in the SEC since expansion.

Georgia leads the series, since expansion, 14-8, just 8-6 since the turn of the millennium.

Since expansion, the average margin of victory in the series has been by just 4 points. Each team has had a blowout win.

I expect this year's game in Columbia to be no less exciting - it'll be close, hard fought and worth watching. As usual, the winner will have a leg-up in the Eastern Division conference race.

Both teams suffered key personnel losses, both teams have question marks.

I like SCAR's chances at home with the HBC calling the game from the sidelines.

I honestly believe that SCAR is going to have their finest team in history this year, and I've been saying it for a couple of years now.

Fans from other teams just do not realize how well Spurrier and his staff have recruited. We've got players everywhere, especially in the trenches, who turned-down offers from Bama, UGA, FSU, OSU and so-on and so-forth. And while I also honestly believe UGA's backfield is the finest in the entire country, in terms of RBs, I believe SCAR's will show-better in this game because ours is no slouch and our offensive line will be the difference. That, and the fact that our passing game is going to open-up a lot of opportunities for our running game.

The key to this game is going to be who controls the clock and keeps their defense off the field.

Regular redshirt to get a year of separation between him and Murray.
