at stood out about Kiffin's tenure at Tennessee was the ill fit, the sense that he didn't know what he'd gotten himself into, Kiffin seemed like a cultural anthropologist, looking around him and jotting down notes, "People like football here. Orange is the color of choice, Peyton Manning is important." Bret Bielema is doing the same. How else to explain this written comment which analyzes the culture of Arkansas. "We are in the "Bible Belt." All the emphasis on doing things right in a Christian way is there. Knowing that, I just signed a Moslem quarterback from New Jersey."

My jimmies have been rustled all day since that 'UT or A&M this year' thread earlier today, just took a while to find time to post.

Looks like he is going to be there for year 2, so no.

Bama will take him as an assistant in a few years (along with Chiz).
If AU is "Rehab U" for players we might be it for coaches.

To answer the OP, yes Bert will Kiffin Arkansas and leave for Iowa.

I hope not, for Arky's sake.

I hope not as well. I'd much rather he be their Franchione.

Bielema is an arse sometimes, but he's no Kiffin.

Kiffin actually had a winning season at Tennessee. So no.

The analogy of Kiffin doesn't really work, at least in terms how author is using it. I hate to defend Kiffin but he never acted lost or like he was a cultural anthropologist from the 1880s to early 1900s taking notes on the 'noble savages' native to the strange alien country and culture he'd wondered into - if anyone ever fit that description it would be Dooley. Kiffin, OTOH, was simply an arse and a disaster.
That said, I think question of whether BB fits is a valid one. His strange comments regarding his staff's awareness of being in the the Bible Belt and emphasis on running a Bible Belt Approved™ program and doing things the Good Christian Way™ and that knowing this he just signed a 'Moslem' quarterback certainly sound like those lost cultural anthropologists of old. Particularly those from when anthropology was in its infancy and who were blissfully unaware of the class-based, educational, social and cultural biases they brought with them and due to their lack of training produced works were beyond useless unless you wanted an ethnography that was nothing more than an idiot, sometimes an agenda driven one, trying to describe a new culture and failing at it miserably in nearly every manner except for spreading outright myths, lies, and stereotypes about the culture being described.
BB seems lost at times and while his comments are strange, Clay's statement, "Yes, nothing says fitting into the Southern Bible belt like a "Moslem" quarterback from New Jersey," is a cheap shot that stereotypes Arkansas fans and really everyone in the Bible Belt as a bunch of simpleminded bigots who will only accept Tim Tebow clones.

The better question is when will Arky upgrade their coach from Bert to Kiffen
