If you're under fifty, and I'm assuming most ranters are, then Auburn has been the better team in the state for most of your concious CFB life:

Since 1984:
Auburn – 0.69% win percentage (9th nationally)
Alabama - 0.67% win percentage (17th nationally)
Iron Bowl: Auburn – 16 wins, Alabama – 14 wins.

Furthermore, in years in which the Tide was not coached by Saban or Bryant, Alabama went an embarrassing 18-24 overall in the IB.

Auburn is clearly the better program but Alabama gets so much attention, why is that? Ignorance? Insecurity? What?

Well, guess what moron? These are years coached by Saban. That's why.

You're not very good at this.

You really want access to their board, huh?

Make them a pie chart instead of kissing their asses.

4 NC to 1 in that same time period is the thing...we are probably not the better program over the past 20 or maybe even 30 years...

I don't know. Why does Spurrier get so much attention when he has as many natty titles as Larry Coker and Gene Chizik?

Alabama is a blue blood of college football. Certain teams get attention even when they are down.

Even during this somewhat arbitrary time frame that you picked, Alabama still has 4 consensus national championships.

Not sure any other team has that many in that timeframe. Miami maybe? Few teams have that many in their entire history period.

Teams that win a lot of national championships tend to get a lot of attention. Particularly when you are talking about one of the top 5 college football programs of all time.

ETA: Plus you are posting this during a time when Alabama has clearly been the most successful team in the country during the last 6 year stretch. And you are asking why they get attention? Doesn't seem difficult to figure out.

Probably for the same reason the LA Lakers get more attention than the Clippers or why the Dallas Cowboys get more attention than the Houston Texans. Same with the NY Yankees and the NY Mets. While the lesser team has had some success against their more famous neighbor, they are generally considered red headed stepchildren to the more famous team from a prestige and history standpoint. The Yankees, Lakers, and Cowboys are always going to get the majority of the attention.

I hope this answers your questions.
