With ATT buying directv today, does that ensure the SEC network on Directv by August? Please say yes!

This merger may get tied up by the Feds. Don't look for this one to happen in that time frame.

probably next year. by then I think most will carry it.

Aggie gonna Aggie
Tim Brando ?@TimBrando
Just found out AT&T will announce the buyout of Directv for a cool 49 billion on Monday morning. If true clears the way for the SEC Network.

Regulators are still looking at the Comcast/Time -Warner deal announced in February if that tells you anything, and it was only 45 billion.

The Aggie is probably right about this, and nothing in the tweet from Brando contradicts his post. "Clearing the way for the SEC Network" does not mean immediately, or this fall, or address the prospect of anti-trust lawsuits.

BTW - I agree that if the AT&T/Direct happens, it won't be settled by August.

Although the deal makes sense for both companies, there are lingering doubts with regard to regulatory approval. Comcast’s deal with Time Warner Cable has yet to be approved, and there have been several concerns over issues of anti-competitive practices in the deal. With respect to the AT&T-DirecTV deal, the Justice department’s antitrust division is likely to look into anti-competitive and neutrality issues, while the Federal Communications Commission will determine its implications on consumers. Past experiences of disapproved deals, such as DirecTV-Dish Network and AT&T-T Mobile, show that the approval process can be difficult.

The guy who just replaced my receiver Thursday said it would happen pretty soon. Said that was just some companies stirring up shite. So since he works for Direct TV I will go with his judgment

Yeah, he would probably know more than Forbes about how the business world works. By the way, thanks for the downvote, that lets me know I got under your skin a bit.

First off I didn't down vote and secondly Forbes isn't gospel

Short term, this certainly makes the SEC Network more likely to become available on DirecTV. That said, I would not feel comfortable as a DirecTV customer with AT&T calling the shots. The DirecTV installers are ecstatic with the likelihood they will be unionized into the AT&T employees so while good for them, the increased benefits will be made up somewhere.

This is a Jim Donnan question

He was from Mississippi, did you really expect something different
The guy that replaced mine had all his teeth and was well educated.
My point in this whole thread was never say never.

PSA: for several posters ...
It's DirecTV; not Direct TV (only one T).
Wouldn't want you to look silly as you manage negotiations from this point forward.
Carry on.
