If we had a typical football and golf year for us, it could have potentially been the year we finally beat Stanford for the Director's Cup. Their current point total can only increase in small increments, whereas we will likely be adding between 300-400 points.

More like the we got so much dough we can sponsor every sport in the book cup.. Take away lacrosse and water polo (sports not played by many conferences) and it would be a whole new list.

What's the difference between the two?

Exactly. Alabama can almost never finish above Auburn or Georgia all because of the one extra sport they have equestrian. Alabama barely finished ahead of Auburn and barely finished in the top 25 in the nation the year (2011/2012) we won 5 national championships with a runner up in men's golf. How do you win 5 national titles with a runner up and not even lead your conference?

One really is the Stanford Cup and has been around for quite some time.

The other is brand new to give the ACC a chance to beat out Stanford more often by emphasizing sports the ACC actually does well in.

Ironically Florida has spoiled that party

2010 - 2011 Florida won the Men and Stanford won the Women
2011 - 2012 Florida won the Men and Stanford won the Women
2010 - 2011 UCLA won the Men and UNC won the Women

Not sure equestrian is recognized by either Cup's point system so pretty sure that is not correct

In men the following are Group B sports (60 points) :
Soccer, no SEC soccer (Cocks and Cats play in CUSA)
Football (FBS) and Football (FCS)
Basketball
Lacrosse, no SEC lacrosse
Outdoor Track & Field
Baseball

In women the following are Group B sports (60 points) :
Soccer - UNC has won almost every NCAA title = 82, 83, 84, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 96, 97, 99, 00, 03, 06, 08, 09, and 12
Volleyball
Basketball
Lacrosse, no SEC lacrosse (Florida and Vanderbilt play in ALC)
Outdoor Track & Field
Softball

My big gripe has always been you should not have a Group B sport unless all the Big 5 conferences sponsor it. With the Directors Cup, the PAC sponsoring Water Polo, only PAC gets points in the sport of the Big 5 conferences.

The COC is better because it only uses sports that everyone participates in.

Since when does the SEC have M soccer, M lacrosse, or W lacrosse?

Does the Big 12 have these sports either?

Capitol One Cup board
ACC Doug Fluite / Boston College
B1G Clark Kellogg / Ohio State
B1G Barry Larkin / Michigan
SEC Reece Davis / Alabama
PAC Lisa Leslie / Southern California
PAC Jennie Finch / Arizona
OTR Brandi Chastain / Santa Clara (CA)

2 B1G, 2 PAC, and 0 Big 12

So lacrosse which has a limited number of schools participating counts but men's and women's tennis and golf which every school has doesn't. Makes sense.

You are living in a fools paradise! Gators have not even made a Runner Up and pretty sure they have not even gotten to a Final Four.

B1G Maryland = 10 titles (won in ACC)
B1G Northwestern = 7 titles
IVY Princeton = 3 titles
ACC Virginia = 3 titles
B1G Penn State = 2 titles
OTR Temple = 2 titles
OTR Delaware = 1 title
OTR Massachusetts = 1 title
OTR New Hampshire = 1 title
ACC North Carolina = 1 title
IVY Harvard = 1 title

No wonder yall finish 1st in the SEC each year. You receive points in 3 sports that none of the other SEC schools have.

Holy crap...."Stanford University has won the Division I award for nineteen straight years."
NC won it the 1st year (Stanford was 2nd) and since then it's belonged to Stanford.

Gators just completed their 5th year of Lacrosse. We've won the Conf the last 4 years and been to one final four.
