I noticed on PM home page that Ferrod Gardner LB from Trotwood, OH. tweeted that Coach Ford is his favorite coach so far. I know we got a recruit from Trotwood a few years back. And he has since left the team.
Are we spinning our wheels and spending badly needed money in Trotwood when Georgia seems to be more friendly and a better hunting ground for SEC type players??

Going into Big 10 country and offering SEC would never seem to be a bad idea.
We are close, good academics, good sports, give SEC play time.

But are they SEC type players? Fast and big in every position?

Are you serious about SEC type players? There are top tier players all around the country. Players the SEC would love to get their hands on. Good football isn't only played in the South.
I think the Ohio area is probably top 3 for producing good football players.
Just searched for some quick info on it and this was the first thing I found. (Albeit 6 years old)
STATES WITH MOST NFL PLAYERS
California 214
Florida 185
Texas 170
Ohio 90
Georgia 83
Louisiana 73
Virginia 61
Michigan 57
South Carolina 51
Alabama 48
Pennsylvania 47
North Carolina 41
Mississippi 39
Illinois 38

No I do not mean black. But yes I am serious.
The Ohio State University has been recruiting nationally before Urban Meyer got there but we saw in their 2 National Championship games agaisnt SEC teams that they got beat up physically and by speed.
A lot of Ohio and Michigan kids on those two teams. Compared to how we used to recruit Texas we have abandoned that state for Florida and Georgia.
I do not want to hear that since we are not in the Big 12 Texas kids would not want to go to Mizzou. BS. LSU and Bama have been going into Texas for years and getting talented players who have helped them. Before Saban (LSU and Bama years) and Miles have been the coaches at those two universities.
Frankly I agree that good football players are everywhere. But the SEC plays a different type of foootball. You better be three deep in most postions or injuries will get you in the SEC.
We need to be spending our time and money in states that we can get 3-6 players every year that can help us win. Ohio is not that place. We will not get those kids from Ohio to come to Missouri in the numbers that we need. Take that money and go back into Texas

Get the best players wherever they are.

I think they put something in the water in the SEC. I know they can't stand environmental regulations so I'm guessing uranium

I would say if Missouri produces SEC type players then yes, Ohio absolutely does, and in much larger numbers than Missouri.

Kentucky is killing it in Ohio and I think it's a sage strategy.
Recruit the B1G for kids who see the SEC as the better ticket to the NFL.
East St. Louis. Illinois. Ohio. I'm all for it.

If we want to be treated like a national power, you shouldn't limit your recruiting geographically. Go get good players wherever they are.
Harold Brantley is from Hershey, Pennsylvania. I'd take him over most Georgia DT recruits out there.
