Are you cool with a teacher spanking / paddling your child?

I'm sort of riding the fence on this subject. Before I had my little girl, I was like yeah, whip that arse but now I don't think I could handle another adult besides her mom punishing her in that manner.

if I had kids the answer would be Hell No

I don't have a kid, but I don't think I would be ok with it.

No, I don't spank my kids and I wouldn't want anyone else spanking them.

Spankings at school are just part of growing up, just like football and hacky sack.

I will spank my kids , but I don't trust a stranger's judgement on what is spank-worthy. I'd rather be informed of my child's actions and I'll make the decision at home what the appropriate punishment will be.

they had corporal punishment when I was a little kid in Dekalb county georgia (atlanta). got my butt spanked a couple of times by the teacher...and got it kicked worse when i got home.
With our kids we just told the teachers if they were ever a behavior problem to send a note home and it wouldnt happen again.

I was spanked in school (to be fair my grandmother was my teacher for three straight years though). I wouldn't trust someone else spanking my kids tho

My wife is a school teacher, and parents have to sign a release to authorize the principal to paddle the students. If you don't trust the principal, then you don't have to allow corporal punishment.
I'd have to leave this at a principal-by-principal decision. I may let Mr Jones have authority, but I may not trust Mr Smith.

no i don't trust a teacher to spank a child. When I have kids, I will spank them when they act up, not someone else

I don't have kids, nor do I want kids, but I would not be cool with a teacher spanking or paddling my child.

No. Corporeal punishment by parents is appropriate, though.

I wouldn't trust the judgement of anyone who became a teacher.
But I support the kind of physical discipline my high school used: drop and do push-ups, or come before school or on Saturday mornings to clean up campus or work on landscaping.
And if an after school detention made you late for practice, you weren't doing nothing but running.
Worked much better for me than the psycho babble guilt trips I got in middle school.

This makes more sense and does more good than spanking. "Take a Saturday Detention or get the paddle.", they'll take the paddle every time. Temporary pain doesn't stop shite unless it's hyperbolic.

Physical discipline (i.e. pushups, ladders, crabwalk, etc.)was also very effective at my school as well. I went to an all boys school though, was yours co-ed? Would this fly at a school with girls?
