The mother is beyond shitty. Especially in a conservative state the kids almost always go to the mom.

One of my best friends has full custody of his daughter. Needless to say, the mom is a piece of shite.

Only times I've seen it is where Mom is either drugged up out of her mind, incarcerated, or was caught abusing the kid. It damn near takes an act of God to get a kid removed from a Mom here.

It's possible they have joint custody or something. Every now and again we'll have one parent try to withdraw the kid to another school without the other's knowledge.

I have friends that are in CPS and a lawyer friend that has done a few divorce cases.

They both say you have to practically have video evidence of a woman being a psycho to get kids taken away.

He's seen an unemployed cheating drunk of a woman get kids over a dad who never did a thing wrong in marital terms.

She was a really nice girl growing up. A friend of mine's stepbrother was dating her in high school. His stepbrother told him that she was about to come over and they were going to mess around. So my friend setup a video camera in his brother's closet and covered it up with a shirt.

That video made the rounds a week later. I heard her family caught wind of the tape and called police. The dude went home from school one day during the middle of class and destroyed the tape. The end.

That chick would be glad to see that video compared to how she looks now.

Other possoilty is if the father spent money on a good attorney while the mother didn't take it seriously enough or missed a hearing. Of course, she's probably not all there if that happens.

Not in my experience. And tell your FB friend to pound sand. Forget school systems - mine moved to fricking Kansas.

On the other hand, maybe she's an Auburn fan? That would explain it.

I don't know how things work down there in redneck land, but here in the first world joint custody is the default.

"Joint custody" is common here but probably doesn't mean the same thing it does to Yankees. Here it seems to mean that the father pays through the nose for the right to see his children whenever the mother thinks it is convenient. Or something. No, I'm not bitter.

They moved to Olathe, about as close to Missouri as you can get. So this is at least partially your fault

On the flip side, once they turned 14 it was their choice where to live and no lawyers or court had any say about it. Ta-frickin'-da.

I have custody of my son, and was awarded it.

Ex-wife not really crazy, but she was promiscuous at the time.

I'm friends with a guy who got primary custody of his kids. It's shared, but he's primary. The ex-wife wanted to move out of Missouri with the kids, the dad wanted then to stay with him in the same school. Mom was arrogant about it, quit her job, told him to get insurance for the kids, and planned her move - before the hearing. The judge got pissed off and decided it was in the kids best interest to stay in the same school instead of moving to another state with mom and her new boyfriend. Who she was cheating with. So, while she wasn't necessarily a bad mom, she was kind if a pos. And lost her kids.

The real losers were the kids. Oh, and he had tattooed his wedding ring due to a metal allergy, so that was a pain to get removed too.
