I'm for beating out Michelle Nunn (D)....as you all know, I live in Southeast Georgia and Jack Kingston has been my Congressman for a while...give him a look...he would make a great Senator...

I guess I feel kinda bad for not upholding my civic duty and being a good citizen, but I have never given one rats arse about politics. At all. I have no idea who holds what office or who is running for what.

In all seriousness, Kingstons got his hands full with Perdue, and whom ever comes out of this cage match standing will have a similar battle with Nunn.

I worked for the SLC when that event took place. Why does it bother you so? He was probably one of the most conservative-leaning democrats ever. Hell, the Dems pretty much disowned the guy.

Jack Kingston's sister is a political science professor at UGA and he came and spoke to our class one day. I like him a lot and will be pulling for him to win.

ETA: just checked the faculty web-site, she may not be there anymore. From the looks of it, a lot of the polisci professors I had aren't there anymore. Shame. Except Bullock, of course....

I was thinking the same thing. Of all the terrible things that happen in politics, who a building is named after would be pretty far down the list of things that make me angry.

Yea, I had no problem with the renaming. Zell was a pretty conservative democrat. Hell, he gave a great speech at the '04 RNC. He was a dem in name only, simply because he came from a long line of southern democrats and it was who he was.

My guess is that a bunch of grads here also took advantage of the HOPE program he helped found, too.

Sarcasm button must be broken.....

I just didn't like the change from SLC to MLC, and I still refer to it as the SLC. That is all

Everyone I know that graduated from UGA prior to around 2011ish still does too.

Okay, I get that. Nobody who knew it as the "SLC" ever really adopted the "MLC" moniker. That I understand. Since I worked there from 2005 to 2009, I got to know it pretty well as both since the change took place in 2007 (I think).

I think 2012 was about the cutoff. My class was the last class that called it the SLC.

Looking like its gonna be Perdue v. Nunn...

I like Kingston too though, he might be able to pull something out and win the nomination.

I prefer SLC because "students" study there so it makes more sense and I am so used to calling it SLC from my time at UGA.

Zell

I had family that worked for the state when Zell was gov. He was one of the most crooked, "gonna get you fired" SOB politicians in GA history. Based on what I've heard I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

Just FYI.

My sibling that graduated from UGA this year said her class still called it the SLC...

As for my incoming class all I've heard is MLC

come on now, be real. you don't like him because he wanted the confederate flag removed from the GA state flag. Flag flap baby. A southern democrat fighting to remove the sacred symbol... what a brave man. I'm glad I got to study in the ZLC.

I can't vote for Kingston because he voted to raise the debt ceiling.

Shame on me, maybe, for pointing my vote based on one issue.
But I find it hypocritical to call yourself for small government and a penny pincher when you voted to raise the debt limit.

Actions matter more than words.
