As most of your are probably aware, Georgia had just 2 players selected in the 2014 NFL draft, Aaron Murray and Arthur Lynch, both in the 5th round. All of our rivals had more or higher draft picks.

What does this say about the talent Murray had to work with? Yea, I know we usually have top 10 recruiting classes but all that matters is the realized product on the field. And yes, I am well aware that UGA has put a lot players in the NFL. But clearly we didn't in 2014 from the eligible players associated with Murray's class year, 2009. I'm beginning to think that all things considered, including the quality of the players that actually contribute to our team at a high level, Richt might actually be doing more with less.

Nothing at all. It says that the 2014 NFL draft class didn't have many UGA seniors or early entrants.

100% this. We knew going in that our 2014 draft class would be weak simply due to few graduating seniors or those not eligible. With this draft, we have 45 active players in NFL at my last check. We don't have an issue with putting players in the league and are one of the best at doing so. This year was an anomaly.

OK, but why was that? Alabama for instance had 8 players drafted, 2 first round picks and a 2nd rounder. What it tells me is Alabama and most of our rivals had more talent at more positions eligible for the draft. These are your more mature/developed Junior and Senior players who should be team leaders and contributing at a high level. Clearly we had too few of these players in 2013 and when you factor in the devastating injuries, our disappointing 8-5 record is hardly surprising.

In 2012 we had 11 players playing in the NFL in 2013, 8 of them were drafted. We were young across the board in 2013.

Dude it's not a hard concept. We had 1 QB, 1 TE, and potentially 1 DL with any real chance of getting drafted. We had no one leave early and a small senior class. And btw that QB and TE went above any bama players at the same position.

It's really not rocket science. Next year we will have Gurley, Mitchell, Wilson, Herrera, and probably some underclassmen all go and several will go fairly high.

The junior leaders on the team returned to the team, and our biggest leader on the team was drafted. Higher than bama's player at the same position btw.

OK, I feel better now.

Could have sworn I saw some statistic last year that said there were more UGA players starting in the NFL than any other SEC team (or was it any other team?).

I think we had 8 drafted last year, which was tied for first or second.

Didn't we only lose like 5 or 6 guys total this year? And 2 of them were drafted and 3 others were picked up as UDFA's.

We're very young and the team was full of juniors and sophomores. Not a big deal.
