One of the Kansas State Wildcats' most explosive offensive options from last season won't be with the team in 2014.

quote:

After backing up Heisman finalist Collin Klein during the Wildcats' Big 12 championship run in 2012, Sams spent much of last season splitting snaps at quarterback with juco transfer Jake Waters.

quote:

Sams wound up leading all Big 12 quarterbacks with 807 yards rushing, which ranked ninth overall in the league.

quote:

Waters gradually took over the full-time job, pushing Sams to the sideline.

quote:

To get back on the field, he requested a position change to receiver during the offseason. But he had only two grabs for nine yards in K-State's spring game.

So who is thier back up?

They are relying on a JUCO QB with only one year of big boy experience?

...oh wait!

I'm sure their hall of fame coach has a plan.

I dunno but we do not tend to do well against running qb's so this is good news for us

Outside of Tahj Boyd, we usually beat running QBs, we just get torn up in the process before gutting it out.

Also, Bill Snyder is probably one of the top 3 coaches of the past 30 years, unless senility is getting ahold of him, I wouldn't be too worried

When Jake Holland left the field (after the 1st series in the 3rd quarter), MSU only gained 3 first downs the rest of the game (I'm not going to count the last play of the game).

You need strong LB play to stop/contain mobile QBs, especially power runners like Prescott.

getting holland off the field was big... and I don't think we were ready for Prescott, to be honest... i think EJ and the guys were expecting Russell to start and play the majority of the game. We made some adjustments and played the QB run game much better in the 2nd half.

give mullen credit... going with prescott was a shrued move and damn near won them the game.

I remember Russell looking pissed all night roaming the sidelines. You could see him leering over at Mullet, if looks could kill...

Just watched the replay of this game last weekend. The announcers said the starting MS State QB was not cleared to participate due to previous head injuries. Mullen is not that bright, Dak was better than the guy he had slated as starter.
