What a possible 12-year football schedule rotation could look like

Using Vanderbilt as an example, here's a possible 12-year schedule vs. the West (necessary because it will take 12 years to play home-and-homes with non-permanent rivals). I don't think they'll do back-to-back home-and-homes, in order to increase the variety of teams played each year.

2015: @ Ole Miss, LSU
2016: Ole Miss, @ Alabama
2017: @ Ole Miss, Mississippi State
2018: Ole Miss, @ Auburn
2019: @ Ole Miss, Texas A&M
2020: Ole Miss, @ Arkansas
2021: @ Ole Miss, Alabama
2022: Ole Miss, @ LSU
2023: @ Ole Miss, Auburn
2024: Ole Miss, @ Mississippi State
2025: @ Ole Miss, Arkansas
2026: Ole Miss, @ Texas A&M

As a fan, I hate that we'll visit places like Baton Rouge only once every 12 years.

Yep

Either fix the permanent opponent or add 9 games. Kind of eliminating the point of a "conference" if you only play a team in your "conference" once a decade.

It could be sped up and kept at 8 games by moving some teams to different divisions or eliminate the "rivalry" games that no on outside of the fanbases in the game cares about.

As a team in the East, with our permanent rival being Arkansas, I have to say I'm a fan of the way it's currently setup.

That was one of the reasons the SEC went from 5-2-1 to 5-1-2 to begin with. Now, with the addition of 2 more teams and with one permanent, it is much much worse than the older 5-2-1 model.

& please share with us how a BALANCED division would be by moving teams? Keep in mind, you CAN ONLY put 3 of UGA/UF/USC/Ala./Aub./LSU into 1 division & the other 3 in the opposite division. Also, you CAN'T split up 2 schools from the same state into different divisions.

Also, you CAN'T change DSOR, WLOCP, IB, nor TSIO to a "whenever" game OR NOT count as a conf. game.

This is exactly why the conference should have never expanded. If for some dumbass reason Slive decides to go for another money grab and go to 16 team, then each division is basically a conference in and of itself.

I vote we kick out the Faggies and Missouri.

I've posted this in another thread.....but if you kept UGA/Aub. & TN/Ala. playing each other yearly & rotated everybody else..........you get the following:

UGA/Aub./TN/Ala. = 6 years to go through the other side ONCE

everybody else = 7 years to go through the other side TWICE

16 teams gives us better scheduling options than 14.

no offense, but your opinion doesn't seem to count. after all, you are only a fan. by the way, I agree 100% with you post. the "new" SEC sucks and I will vote with my feet. I most definitely am not the SEC proponent I used to be. give me Georgia, south Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, florida and Louisiana. frick texas and Missouri. no offense intended. 14 teams and an 8 game conference schedule sucks pond scum.

Agreed. Split into four divisions and rotate similar to the NFL. That way everyone would play every team in a three year span and travel to every school in six.

Wait. You're complaining that because you want to keep those rivalries intact, that it isn't fair that everyone else gets to go through the other side twice in 7 years?

Jesus H. Christ, now I've frickin heard everything.

Daigeaux, I never said that. I was pointing out to somebody in another post who said keep those 2 games & dump the rest.
So...whomever entertains that idea...here's what happens.

And neither is as good as 12, like it was.
