It's been a couple years since I've made the tourney. Have there been any recent updates/upgrades to the facility? With the Barons playing downtown, are there any events held there outside of Hoover football?

While we're on this topic...

Can someone please remind me why they haven't moved the SEC tournament to the new Barons stadium?

I'm 99% sure it has to do with a lack of adequate RV parking at the new downtown stadium.
I agree, though, the best league in the country can do better for its flagship event than the Hoover Met.

Dunno for 100% but seems like SEC & Hoover Met probably had a contract signed that hasn't expired yet?

Especially since it's a glorified HS Baseball field now. Sure wish I played in something like that on my HS team.

I wouldn't mind a change in scenery but I don't want to see it moved to a downtown stadium. I like that you are able to have a decent tailgate at the Hoover Met. Downtown parks such as Regions and Auto Zone would destroy tailgating. The CWS made this mistake and IMO, has not been the same since.

Hoover Met and Regions Field are not one and the same. FYI, Regions Field is in downtown Birmingham.

I think the new Regions Field holds less than 10,000. Now,not that the Met gets sell outs for every SEC Tournament game, but one of the allures, at least for walkup crowds, is the seating.

In addition to Hoover HS, the last few NCAA soccer Final 4s have been there.

Doesn't seat as many people, has basically zero parking, and has absolutely nowhere for RVs. It'll never be there, but I'd imagine the Hoover Met and the SEC have a contract to keep it there right now anyway.
