Among their demands are an increase in minimum wage to $15 a hour.

Bitch, there are plenty of college grads that don't make $15 an hour.

How about they work on getting an order correct on a consistent basis before asking for $15 a hour.

I don't eat it much anymore but about the only two places that don't frick up an order whenever I do go is Panera Bread and Chick-fil-a.

$15 an hour? Are they serious? I did the math and based on my salary and average number of hours worked per day I'm pulling in around $15.60 an hour with a college degree.

Yep.

They're too dumb to realize that if they get $15 an hour, the price of their product will raise significantly. If fast food becomes expensive, it's no longer worth it to most consumers and they lose their shitty jobs.

Hopefully they all get fired when they strike. I know a lot of kids I work with who'd like a part-time job (especially in the summer) but there aren't as many available because of older people who shouldn't be settling for entry level positions because they don't want to put in the work and think they deserve $15 an hour.

they shouldn't get $15 an hour but don't fault them for taking the job.

These morons need to learn a damn skill. Flipping burgers and working a cash register is not a skill.

Tisdale lives in his father's house in Brooklyn with his girlfriend and two young children. He earns $8 an hour and works between 14 and 23 hours a week.

With less than $200 a week, he sometimes has to choose between buying food for the family and taking his kids' clothes for a wash to the laundromat. He said it's too expensive to eat at the KFC where he works so he never does.

Obviously there are some exceptions, but I'm seeing more and more people take lower level positions at places like McDonald's just so they can still qualify for welfare. The issue that causes is it limits entry-level positions for kids who are not yet college/trade school graduates who need some experience on a resume before they can get hired at better paying positions.

Ironically, some of these same people can also learn a trade through the government with Pell Grants and the like because of their low income but have absolutely no desire to do so. I don't have much sympathy because it's there for the taking.

A lower level position at somewhere like McDonalds where you're not making $15 an hour shouldn't be a lifetime job. It should be a jumping off point.

If your pay goes up, the cost of goods and services go up, dumb arse.

It definitely will, but the costs have risen higher over the last decade than ever before. If you look at the wages vs. cost, say 20 years ago, it is a substantially larger margin today. Thus more living off the government, well really taxpayers.

But ya, costs will continue to go up regardless, it's happening continually, rising costs and inflation and such.

You should probably buy my "not racist" card just to make sure you aren't racist.

I serve on the deacon board with the franchise owners of a few Hate-FiL-a's. We were talking about this in particular today and I mentioned that his cashiers are the brightest of any fast food in town.

If you work in food service and don't get a raise after a few months janitorial skills may be more to your suiting.
