After seeing numerous threads about this guy I decided to see for myself what all the fuss was about. After checking his stats I still can't find the fuss. Why do these numbers garner heisman talk?

2013 stats

Completions 156 Attempts 267

58.4% completion

1940 yards

10tds to 7ints

Nearly 1000 of his passing yards came against Troy, Alcorn, Kentucky, and Rice.

His rushing stats and above average for a qb but hardly heisman attention worthy.

Rushing

134 attempts 839 yards and 13tds.

Is Prescott basically a running back playing qb? With his below average passing stats one has to think so. Tell me what the fuss is all about dawgs? I see no reason why he should even be in the same conversation with Bo Wallace yet. Maybe after a much improved 2014 season for Dak, we could revisit it, but on paper Bo is a far better qb.

Well he ran enough times (1) to beat ole miss. Could you imagine the meltdown if by some grace of god he won the Heisman ? The tears would be so sweet

It's strange that we had him playing the backup role to the horrendous Tyler Russell.

So the traditional numbers lied. That's what football people will tell you. And that's what sports analytics people will tell you when you use the wrong numbers. When you use numbers that don't accurately reflect football performance, they will provide wrong conclusions. The right numbers incorporate the context of the game, can give better conclusion, and provide reasons they get to those conclusions. It is overcoming the misperceptions created by numbers such as "Passer Efficiency" that is the job of sports analytics......It also accounts for a quarterback's ability to scramble, his ability to run on designed rush plays, how well he avoids sacks, drawing and committing penalties, and all-important fumbles, which can be significant for quarterbacks. If Texas A&M gained 5 yards on third-and-4, Manziel's contribution to that play is captured.

Dak was #10. That's a pretty telling sign. All you need to know.

Always a good thing when people are talking about you and your QB in the offseason. Can't wait for next year

I agree... Tyler Russell fricking sucks. Everytime Dak came in something good would happen, and it seems like the next play he'd come out.

Wish he was LSU's QB right now. We have a bunch of unknowns. He wanted to come to LSU, but we didn't get on him fast enough.

Seems like that happens a lot.

Bo:

More completions
Higher completion percentage
More passing yards
More rushing yards

Dak:
Less interceptions/fumble
More YPA

Dak's performance has been so overhyped. It was probably his worst game of the year. Thankfully Bo shite the bed and made it easy for him to just transition into a game manager.
