On the video Dante Williams is clearly seen entering a South Carolina Waffle House, pointing a gun at employees and customers and attempting to rob the restaurant.

Justin Harrison was eating at the bar. Harrison, a concealed carry permit holder, was armed. He waited for an opportunity, shot Williams, and attempted to detain the second suspect.

I think the only time this gets into a gray area is with guys like the old man who killed the two teens who had broken in. I don't excuse their crime, but the guy laid in wait and didn't even call the police to get the bodies until a day later. Had tarps out to keep the carpet clean. Total psycho.

Otherwise, the "he was a good boy" shite gets real old. And it's a shame the guy is gonna have to face a lawsuit for saving people's lives.

Anytime someone barges into a public place holding people at gunpoint, it is only right in one's mind to believe that they have the intent to shoot someone whether or not the robber has decided that before he enters. Kudos to that guy for protecting the other citizens in the restaurant.

The family of an armed robber is speaking out after surveillance video was released of their family member committing an armed robbery.

The family of Williams says that Harrison didn’t need to shoot and shouldn’t have felt threatened. They want to change South Carolina’s carry permit laws to require more training in order to get a permit.

“It still puzzles us as to why he would do something so crazy,” said McSwain.

Williams actions were out of character for the Dorman High School senior who his family said had never been in trouble before.

“He was always sharp, always goofy, loved to dance, he was a respectable boy,” McSwain said.

McSwain said her family was disappointed that Harrison wasn’t charged in the shooting and says her family is still considering pursuing other legal action against him.

The second suspect was eventually caught and is now in prison.

We already documented this incident back when it originally happened, so we won’t add this post to the defensive gun use database.

Then there is a video

So what point is this dumb arse family trying to make exactly? That he never would have shot anybody? I'm pretty sure the cops don't wait for you to say your gun is just for show and armed civvies shouldn't have to either.

That Harrison should have shot the guns out of the robbers' hands like in the movies

I picked up my Kentucky CCW renewal today. I would have reacted almost exactly the same as the guy in the video.

I'm surprised this happened in South Carolina. Surely people are starting to think, "Hmmm, there might be somebody carrying in there and they might shoot my arse," when planning their criminal activity.

I guess that's why we call them dumb criminals.

I'm sorry they lost their son, but damn.... it was doing something stupid.
They can 'speak out' all they want, don't be trying to rob places and maybe you won't get shot yourself.
