Kevin Sherrer, who coaches the star position and Sam outside linebackers, said the 5-foot-9, 187-pound Green is “probably the frontrunner” for the starting spot at star coming out the spring. “The thing that J.J.’s brought is really a physical and mental toughness, a guy that just really likes football,” Richt said.

Big J.J. fan, glad he's on Defense now.
He contributed in a huge way to the game winning drives vs. LSU and Tennessee.

Me!
Psyched about this. He's gonna be a good physical DB, we haven't had one of those in a while.

Trigga, jhc, and swann were/are all physical and good db's.
Just sayin.

Maybe he can be our own version of Jamarcus Joyner they are both the same size. I love this kid's attitude and can't wait to see what he can do on the field.

as a CCHS fan, I am glad he is at UGA...have been singing his praises since he comitted on this board...what is interesting, is that he wasn't even recruited by UGA..he was recommended to BOBO by Brice Ramsey...
our recruiting is shite...lets stop going after thug idiots that have good highlight reels and recruit some guys that are versatile, strong, and have some damn sense...
he and Brice are supposed to be at my kids school this week helping out with Field Day...vice stealing crab legs and cashing checks that aren't theirs...
just sayin..

UGA recruits who they need to recruit to win. I promise they aren't just going around looking for idiots.
If UGA only recruited nice kids who are just happy for the opportunity, we would be 5-7 or worse for eternity.
All that aside, really glad JJ Green is at UGA and looking forward to watching him crack some skulls this season.

I agree. Physical is not a word I think of when I think of Swann

swann isn't all that, but he gets unfairly ripped on sometimes, IMO.
In 2012, he didn't have much pressure on him and he was free to just go ball out. He also had a bunch of NFLers he could trust backing him up. He made some big time plays that year.
In 2013 he was looked at as the big returning star, and had a ton of freshmen who didn't know wtf they were doing all over the field. I think that made him play a lot tighter and his play suffered.
We are breaking in a new system this year, but since it's supposed to be much simpler, I'm hoping that he can return to 2012 form. He certainly has plent of natural talent.
