@StepnerWKBW: Former UB head coach Reggie Witherspoon has been named an assistant at University of Alabama. #Buffalo #NCAA

Goodbye Pujol, hello Witherspoon.

I was told this guy knows his offense and ran good sets like Beilein at Michigan.

Is Pettway still on the staff?

Yes. It's Pettway, Brannen, and now Witherspoon.

I think the offense Bama runs is kind of his prized possession.

Edit: That offense that we want to run

Only have heard good things about him as a person and basketball mind. I don't know how good of a recruiter he will be, but not sure that is so important right now with Pettway and Brannen doing work. I am not sure what Pujol brought as far as recruiting went anyways.

I think this was a hire to have someone that Grant can lean on as well as someone who can develop players. Like you said, Brannen and Pettway can do the recruiting.

Witherspoon said he was shocked to learn how many programs were aware of his methods of coaching – likely referring to the patented high-low offense he developed at UB, known in some circles as “Reggie Rise-Up,” which many college teams now run

Sounds like a home run hire to me.

He was fired. The press release made no mention of him being retained in an administrative position.

Dan compared it to a faster paced Princeton offense. Sounds good to me.

I was wrong about Pujol. He was demoted and has the option to stay if he can't find another job: LINK
